Who: Joseph Flint & Lenora Flint
When: Friday Night, August 18th
Where: Joseph's Bedroom
What: Not all love is a happy ending.
Warning: Sex and Violence.
Rating: High.
Joseph was lost in the woman below him. His lips found her neck as he slowly thrust in and out of her, moaning her name quietly. Each night Nora came into his bed was more perfect than the last. Each night he got with her was another gift, another chance to feel the magnitude of his love for her. It was unspoken still, but Joseph had hope that Nora would come to him when it was time and that he would have the chance to truly show her how he felt. Until then, he would taken what he could get. Even if those moments were rushed and hidden away in the dark.
His lips found hers as he pushed his length into her once again. She was so tight, so wet for him. "Nora," he groaned against her mouth. With his hands moving down her body and grabbing her hips, his fingers digging in tightly. He couldn't touch her enough, couldn't be deep enough inside of her. Nora was where his days started and ended. The hours without her lacked meaning, lacked substance. For the first time since he lost his wife, Joseph felt as though life was worth living again. It was all due to the woman in his bed, the woman who had saved him.
Wrapping his arms around her, Joseph rolled them over, cradling Nora to his chest and slowly, gently thrusting up into her. He grunted deeply, struggling not to fuck her hard and fast, taking her with every ounce of passion he felt for her. "Fuck," he groaned out loudly. "Nora."
---
The last several weeks since they left New York had been a complete whirlwind of emotion and action. Nora had never been the best at dealing with emotions, and after Joseph's words the night of their rooftop dinner, everything inside of her was an absolute mess. So she did the only thing she knew how to do, she avoided it all completely. It helped that within her first several days back, she had been taken into the Ministry and questions, which left her out of sorts. But somehow, between that brush with possible death at the hands of a maniac wandholder, and the moment shared between herself and Joseph on that intimate night, something snapped. Suddenly, she knew that regardless of what she choose, she couldn't continue down the path she currently held.
Seven days after they came home Nora told Marcus she wanted a divorce. Of course, she didn't expect the conversation to go well. There was yelling, anger, pain… She ended up at the clinic a night where Joseph closed, in order for him to heal her battered face. For severals weeks after, she wandered. A night at the Leaky here, a night in her office there, a night or two with another man who seemed to continually occupy her thoughts alongside Joseph. How could someone who was so sure she wasn't capable of this sort of depth of emotion find herself completely lost in it?
Without a word though, the last week she found herself back at Flint manor, sneaking into Joseph's bed every night. She fell asleep in his arms, woke up to his face familiar face, before slipping out into the morning light. The moments they shared together weren't bathed in complicated words, but instead in action. In feeling. It was the only way she could manage to express what she felt, and she hoped the man currently making love to her understood. He seemed to understand.
Did she really deserve it?
Nora moaned loudly, unable to stop herself as he hit a particularly sensitive spot inside of her, causing her body to tremble around him. Her nails bit into his shoulders, holding onto him for dear life as she pressed her face into his neck, breathing hard before her lips found his again. She moaned against him, her hips meeting his in perfect harmony, the slow yet intense pace driving her absolutely wild. It felt so good. He felt so good.
When she found herself on top of his broad body, Nora slid her hands over his chest, into his hair, and tugged his mouth to hers, crushing their lips together in a kiss more desperate than anything that had passed between them that night. Her body thrust harder into his, driving him deeper, her entire body tensing around him as she neared climax. She needed him, wanted him, to come with her… Together.
"Joseph… I…" her words were cut off as she groaned loudly, her orgasm flooding her body, her small form shivering against him as she gently pressed kisses along his jawline, a gesture more tender than Nora had been capable of in the past as her body slowly began its descent from her pleasurable high.
---
He came with her, though Joseph would have sworn before it was impossible for two people to connect in such a way. He believed people who claimed they could feel each other climax were full of it, just pretending they were more in tune with their partner in order to be romantic. But, then, the last few nights he'd learned just how real it could be. As Nora shuddered on top of him, Joseph could feel her tighten around him, the intense spasm of her walls, the contractions driving him over the edge. Joseph groaned as he came, spilling inside of her, moaning her name as he thrust up a few more time, emptying himself into the perfect creature on top of him.
"Lenora," he said with a sigh and kissed her hair again.
For a moment, a sweet, magical moment, Joseph felt true happiness. He could spend the rest of his life lost between the legs of Nora, wrapped up in her voice, and bewitched by her smile. He longed for her to choose him, to come to him and start a life with him and Lucas. Joseph ached to ask her, but his own guilt held him back. She had to choose him, through no influence of his own. It was the first time in his life that Joseph hadn't gone for what he wanted when it was the one thing he wanted with every last fiber of his being. His feelings for Nora burned in his chest. He loved her. He loved her strength, her perseverance, her grit, her hidden compassion, and her deep and unyielding faith in her own moral compass. Nora was so beautiful, curled on top of him with his length still inside of her. But Joseph saw a beauty that even Nora couldn't see. Her saw her soul, her stunningly flawed and fractured soul. She could love so fiercely and he wasn't worthy of her.
No man was.
Lifting his hand, Joseph tucked her raven hair behind her ear before pressing a long, lingering kiss to her lips. "You are beautiful," he said in a gruff, but gentle voice. "Don't move. I want to remember this." His eyes searched her face, committing the beads of sweat on her forehead from their lovemaking to his memory. His eyes traveled down to her slender neck. The flush traveled to her chest, still pressed against his. Smiling, he rolled them onto their sides, one hand holding Nora at the small of her back. His large hand practically spanned her half of her back.
He was so lost in her eyes and her body that Joseph hadn't heard the door to his bedroom open. He didn't hear the footsteps against his floor. And it wasn't until he felt blinding pain traveling along his spine that the hex reached his ears. Marcus stood behind him, rage painted on his face with his short, knotty wand pointed at the couple.
"That's my wife," Marcus snarled. "My fucking wife," he spat out and aimed his wand at Nora, his mouth opened, ready to spit out another hex. Jumping from the bed, Joseph lunged for Marcus, crying out in pain as he knocked into his brother.
----
Nora rested comfortably against Joseph's large chest as he joined in her climax, his seed filling her body and warming her from the inside out. For a brief moment she laid there, enjoying the closeness, the comfortable peace between the two of them as her breathing began to even out. She had been foolish to stay so distant the past two weeks, and it was a failing on her part, not his. Because deep down, Nora was a coward, at least in her own mind. She was so terrified of being hurt, of giving herself over to someone who could shatter her into a million pieces that she hid herself away and denied anything truly good in her life. But now, in this moment, in the darkness of Joseph's room, she truly realized how much of an idiot she could be sometimes. Because for all his flaws and his bad decisions in regards to their relationship, Nora had come to realize that he truly had done it all to protect them, his family. Even now, she was still part of that family. Lenora finally found a place she truly belonged.
A small smile graced her lips as he looked her over, an expression on her face that was so gentle and tender someone might wonder if it was really her. Fingers danced over the scruff of on his cheek as he rolled them, still holding her close. Leaning forward, she placed a gentle kiss to his chest… over his heart, the feeling of it beating pulsing against her swollen lips. This was… utterly perfect. Unreal. Nora never wanted this moment to end…
"Joseph…" she whispered, looking up from the spot on his chest, her fingers sliding through his, "I just… I love-" The words were cut off from her lips as an expression of pain crossed his features, and her hazy, bliss filled eyes finally caught sight of her soon to be ex husband.
"Marcus! STOP! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" She screamed as Joseph tackled him. But Marcus was a strong man, even if his brother was bigger. And perhaps it was entirely due to his rage, but he managed to get free for just a moment, his eyes flashing in Nora's direction as he raised his wand.
"You deserve to burn in hell, you disgusting slut. But instead, I'll make you pay for this," he hissed, the venom in his voice sizzling around her as a bright light shot from his wand in her direction, cleaving into her shoulder. Dark magic. Volatile magic. It felt as though it was poisoning her very blood as the dark hex cut through her flesh, warm blood rushing down her chest.
But he hadn't killed her. No, he had hit her, but his aim was off. What… She looked up, and noticed Joseph was locked in a fight with his brother once again. Her heart beat rapidly in her chest, fear seizing her entire being as she got up, trying to find her wand, but the pain made it difficult for her to walk. "STOP IT! STOP FIGHTING! PLEASE, MARCUS!" she screamed at him, falling to the floor and crawling towards them, tears in her eyes. He needed to stop. This all needed to stop. A feeling of dread engulfed her very soul in that moment, and Nora almost knew that her perfect moment was over forever…
---
While he had several inches on his brother and a few stones as well, Joseph was at the disadvantage. His wand was left on his desk, he was nude, and he was attempting to fight off a strong wizard with anger boiling in his blood and a wand that could destroy him. What Marcus lacked in intelligence, he more than made up for in rage. There would be no talking his brother down from this. Joseph could only fight, fight to protect the woman he loved and fight to protect himself.
Growling, Joseph slammed Marcus against the wall, cracking the plaster and sending a priceless painting to the floor. Joseph heard the crack of the antique frame and scowled. When he put his brother back in his place Joseph was going to beat him over the head with the broken frame. Marcus pushed back and fired another hex, aimed for Nora. As Joseph saw the violent red spell leave Marcus' wand, he jumped in front of it, crying out as the hex struck him in the chest.
"Fuck," he groaned and fell to the floor for a moment. The pain spread quickly, each nerve burning in agony. Joseph struggled to breath, his body begging him to stay down. He firmly planted his hands on the floor and pushed himself back up, driven by pure instinct and the need to keep Nora safe.
"You fucked my wife," Marcus yelled. "SHE IS MINE. MINE. AND SHE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE." He glared daggers at Nora, raising his wand again. If she wanted to leave him, well, he would make sure she lost that urge. Imperiusing her into submission suited him just fine. But Marcus was never going to let his old, perfect fucking brother, take the one thing that had been given to him. Nora would stay with Marcus, he'd make sure of that.
"Impe--" His voice was cut off by a large, thick hand wrapping around his throat. Joseph tightened his grip, his eyes blazing with anger. "She doesn't belong to either of us," he snarled. "And you sure as fuck aren't ever touching her again." Lifting Marcus an inch off the ground, Joseph threw him, sending his brother a few feet away. Joseph spun towards Nora, meeting her eyes for just a second. What had been so perfect, so sweet and gentle just minutes before had descended into sheer hell. "Run." he begged her before scrambling to grab his wand.
And then... time froze. Joseph lifted his wand at Marcus in time with his brother. The brothers stood for a second, half a second really, staring at each other. Two spells shot out wands in unison, each with one singular purpose. They aimed to kill, to win.
Two curses were shouted together and the room lighted in a pale, green flash. One body crumbled to the floor, the hex hitting them first. Joseph watched his brother fall to the floor, the unforgivable he'd uttered having struck its mark. Marcus laid lifeless, nothing body than a body on the floor. For a brief, shining moment, Joseph thought he'd won.
But his victory would be short lived. The feeling of a warm, thick liquid began to slide down his chest. Looking down, Joseph saw the deep cuts into his skin, crossing his chest and stomach. Blood poured from them, too quickly to stop. He staggered backwards towards the bed and fell against it, sinking to the floor.
---
Nora was utterly frozen by the scene before her. She knew, deep down, that Marcus was unhinged, but she had never expected him to lash out at his own brother. A member of his family. This wasn't right. None of this was supposed to be happening and she had to wonder if this was all real, or a disgusting nightmare she couldn't wake up from. As he raised his wand in her direction, Nora could do nothing but sit back on the heels of her feet, blood slowly running down her chest as Marcus' eyes flashed with fury, his wand pointed directly at her. Whatever he had in mind… she could take if it meant he would leave Joseph alone. Nora had nothing left, but he had Lucas, a career, a life. Maybe this was how it was supposed to be…
As the eldest brother tackled the younger one out of the way, pleading with her to run, she couldn't bring herself to move at first. Everything seemed heavy, clumsy. She didn't want to leave him, not like this. Not when every cell of her body screamed at her to save him, to make sure Joseph lived through this.
The illumination of green in the dark room took her breath away, and for a moment, the entire world stopped around her. There was no sound, no air, and she watched with disbelief as Marcus fell to the floor, his lifeless eyes staring at her. It wasn't until Joseph crashed against the bed that Nora snapped herself back to reality, her dark brown eyes going wide with absolute horror as she saw the damage Marcus had inflicted with his dying breath. Crawling over to him, her vision already blurring, Nora let out a strangled sob. There was so much damage, so much blood. His beautiful skin, his muscular chest that she had just laid against after they had made passionate love, was in shreds. She could see muscle, bone… and so much blood. Too much. Reaching forward she tried to begin healing his wounds, to stave off the bleeding, but nothing seemed to work as she cried out in frustration.
Her bloody hands took his face between them, her tearstained face staring deeply into his eyes in complete desperation. "Joseph… tell me what to do. I need you to tell me what to do, and I'll do it. This is fixable, right? You're fixable. You brought me back from the brink of death, I know… I know you know how. Just tell me and I'll do it. Please. I'll do anything you tell me just..." She was bawling now, pleading with him, her voice wracked with terrified sobs as she tried to press a blanket to him to slow the bleeding, to do anything to keep it at bay, to keep him alive.
He needed to stay alive.
"Please… don't leave me, okay? Everyone leaves me, Joseph. I can't… just tell me what to do. I need you…" she whispered the words, each syllable more cracked, more broken, more completely lost than the last.
Pressing her forehead gently against his she clutched her wand between them, needing him to tell her how to fix him. What she could do. Nora would do anything, even if it meant tying his life to hers. There had to be some magic like that.. But she didn't have time to find out. Every moment there was more blood.
"I can't do this without you."

Joseph was no stranger to death. He'd fought it his entire career, battling back the black demon and keeping people in the light. It was his calling, his reason for being. Joseph could save people and spit in the reaper's face. But, upon facing his own death, Joseph was lost. His mind, normally so filled with knowledge and skill was blank save for two perfect thoughts.
The first being his son. Lucas, just four years old, had a full life ahead of him. Losing both his parents before his memories even fully formed was heartbreaking. The little boy would only know of his mother and father from pictures, from stories. Joseph would have sold his soul to spare his son the pain of being an orphan. But the devil didn't come round when you needed him. Joseph closed his eyes and brought his son's face to his memory. As his chest bled out, Joseph thought about the dark curly hair, deep brown eyes, and brown skin of his child. Lucas. Joseph could only hope that someone would tell his son how much he was loved and how much his parents had wanted him. But his deepest hope was that Lucas would know how sorry Joseph was.
Nora's voice came to him from miles away. He struggled to open his eyes, the heavy lids slowly lifting as she placed her hands on his cheek. Bloodstained and sobbing, she was the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen. There was nothing for her to do, no instructions he could give her. He was going to die. That inescapable fact was staring him down, in the last minutes of his life. Lifting his hands, Joseph placed them over Nora's and brought them down between them. He squeezed her hands tightly, as though holding onto her would allow him extra moments in the world. Extra moment he only wanted to spend with her.
If she only knew how much he didn't want to leave her. Joseph wanted nothing more than to spend the rest of his life with Nora, devoting every second of his life to showering her with happiness. He wanted to devote his life to making her happy, helping her see how loved she truly was. And with the final, painful moments of his life, Joseph would do just that.
"I love you," he coughed out, a bit of blood pooling in the corner of his mouth. His heart was slowing and Joseph knew he didn't have long. His willpower, his dying strength, his last breaths, were all for Nora. "I will never leave you," he promised. "-- always with you. Don't forget me."
He groaned suddenly, the air he took in to speak more than his shredded body could take. ".. 're strong, Leno-- --ra. Strongest." His heart, already failing, was breaking as well. She didn't deserve this life. She'd be free of the Flints soon, he realized. She would be free of the obligations that dictated her life. "Tell Lucas I---" Joseph dropped his head back and moaned in pain, unable to speak for a moment.
---
Staring down at their entwined hands, Nora's heart, the one she swore outwardly that was incapable of feeling, but inwardly filled her with such emotional pain that it was almost unbearable, shattered into a million tiny fragments. He wasn't telling her what to do, wasn't telling her how to save him. Which only meant that Joseph wasn't capable of being saved. But that couldn't be the truth, right? This couldn't be it. They had just… truly found one another for the first time. There was no sense to be had in what had just happened. Nothing had been gained, and everything had been lost. For a moment, she wanted to bring Marcus back to life, just to shred him into tiny pieces. To inflict upon him the same pain that wracked through Joseph's body as he took his dying ragged breaths. But even worse, the emotional pain of almost having everything, only to watch it be torn apart in a literal instant. In a flash of light, everything changed, and there was no way back.
"You can't say your goodbyes," she cried pitifully, squeezing his hands, looking up into his eyes. "You have to stay. We need you, Joseph…" Because it wasn't just about her, even in her own heartbreak, her own soul shattering pain, his son came to the forefront of her mind. "How can I ever forget this, Joseph?"
And even though his mouth was filled with blood, she leaned forward to press a hard kiss to his lips, tasting him one last time. In her mind, she refused to admit it, that she would never get this again, but in her chest, where the hole that used to be her heart sat, she knew. "I love you too. I… I'm not strong. I need you, you have no idea. You've protected me, and I know you have, and I've been so blind, so stupid. How can this be all we'll get?" It wasn't enough, it wasn't fair. "I… don't want you to go.." she whispered, her voice cracking as she ran a hand down his cheek.
She could barely see him anymore through the tears that drifted down her cheeks, but she held onto him, refusing to let go no matter what. Maybe if she held on long enough, he would live. He would survive. He would stay.
"I'll tell him every day you love him," she finally managed, knowing she couldn't let him go without him knowing that. Lucas would know of his father. His strength, his knowledge, his deep, endless capacity for love, even if he never wanted to be vulnerable enough to show it. Nora knew that feeling all too well, shared it, showing her once again the man dying in front of her shared so many things in common with her. Things she would never get to discuss, or explore, again.
"He'll know. I promise you that he'll know. I just…" her voice broke as she pressed another kiss to his lips, gentle, brushing softly before she buried her face into his neck, breathing in his scent. Even though the blood, and the smell of dark magic lingering in the room, Joseph still smelled like himself. She needed to keep it in her memory forever. Needed to never forget.
"I wish I could have saved you, Joseph," she admitted, "I wish we had more time. I didn't want it to end like this. I wanted… you to know. I'm sorry." With a rattling breath she gazed up into his eyes one more time. Perhaps the last time.
---
His arm came up slowly, holding Nora to him. The tears flowing from Joseph's eyes mixed with the blood smeared on his face. For a man who held so much in, kept all his emotions and feelings to himself, Joseph wanted to share all of them. It was his last chance to tell her, to make her see how much he cared, how much he loved her. He'd had plans…
His eyes closed again and there it was. The life he'd wanted with Nora played out in just a second, but it felt like a lifetime. He and Nora, curled up in bed together with the Prophet on a Saturday morning. Lucas running in and giggling, his family piled together and cradled in his arms. He could see them on Christmas morning, dressed in their festive pajamas while Lucas tore into presents. He saw them take Lucas to Hogwarts for the first time and spend their life together in comfortable silence, supporting each other, loving each other. He saw them grow old together, Nora's smile never lessening, the sparkle in her eyes, that mischievous glint never dulling. He saw birthdays, a wedding, fights, making up, sex, holidays, and laughter. In one moment, Joseph lived the life he wanted to share with Nora. His heart ached knowing she'd never see the perfection that he'd just experienced.
It was the all consuming pain that dragged Joseph back to the present. To a reality that had only loss, only the broken promise of happiness. He couldn't leave this world with Nora being unhappy, with thinking she wasn't worthy. "Don't give up," he coughed out. "Give them hell." Because his beautiful witch, the woman who taught him to love again… she could bring the world crashing down with her quill. He was so proud of her, so amazed by her talent and her drive. There wasn't time to tell her it all, and Joseph knew he had to pick his words carefully, but quickly. What else could he say to show her, to make her understand how things were supposed to be. No… how things needed to be with him gone.
He wanted to marry her. He ached to tell her that he was going to ask, when the time was right. That he'd taken a ring from the vault and had it tucked away. But he couldn't… he couldn't force her to carry that impossible dream. "Nora," he said, as fear gripped him. He tightened his hold on her, the last seconds of his life suddenly there… the darkness coming. He was terrified, scared of the unknown, of the loss, of the silence.
"You did save me." he whispered and closed his eyes, his body falling slack against the side of the bed. With a final breath, Joseph left the world, a small, glimmer of a smile on his lips.
---
She clung to every word he said, to every breath he took, to every last beat of his heart like she was a drowning person, clinging to her last breath… His last words as his body went limp caused her to scream, her anguish and sorrow resounding through the house. There were still workers there, even this late, and the noise finally brought them running. The scene before them was a disaster. Their two masters dead, and Nora clinging to Joseph's lifeless body as she bawled into Joseph's neck, blood everywhere throughout the bedroom. She refused to let go, refused to call this the end. Grabbing her wand, in a last ditch effort, she threw every healing spell she had ever known at him, even though he was already gone. It was a pitiful sight to behold, and even the workers didn't know what to do. It was clear denial playing out before their very eyes. They didn't dare touch her or try to pull her away, her pain so raw that they could barely look. Instead they waited for Hitwizards to flood the scene, Nora still holding on to Joseph's lifeless body as they flooded the room, spells firing to put the story together.
A Hitwitch tried to touch her, and Nora only screamed, holding on tighter, unable to breathe through her sobbing. Soon, a healer was called, but she fought tooth and nail, hexing whoever tried to come near. They wouldn't take him away from her, they couldn't. This wasn't it. He wasn't gone. This was all wrong.
"Please come back. I don't want to be alone. Please… Joseph.." she sobbed against him, so long that she eventually lost consciousness. It was only then they pried her away from his dead form. She woke up once again and fought tooth and nail, but was dragged away to Mungo's. There was no need for questioning. Not now. Not ever. The story was as clear as day. Star crossed lovers, a jealous husband, a fight gone terribly wrong. And life snuffed out far too soon…
