Rebel Raid - Wandholders Descend on Terrorist Hideout
June Baddock, Senior Reporter
The death of well known Rebel Padma Patil has finally been confirmed and the information released by the Ministry Coroner to the general population. Though specifics regarding her death are still hazy, it seems as though a recent slip up by Katie Bell on the magical journal network led hardworking Wandholders to a unknown Rebel hideout. Within moments, an explosion rocked the muggle block, injuring Wandholders and rebels alike, and leaving Padma Patil dead in the aftermath of the chaotic encounter. "This is a very upsetting day for all Wandholders and Magical Community Members," stated the Head of Wandholders in a press statement earlier this week. "While we do not condone, nor agree with the extreme behavior and actions of the rebels, the death of a magical person is never the desired outcome. Her sister, Parvati Patil, is currently in custody and undergoing the beginning stages of the Rehabilitation Program. We are hopeful that Ms. Patil will see the error of her ways, and learn to become a productive member of this wonderful society once again. If not for herself, then for her sister, whose death was unnecessary." According to sources, there were no Muggle witnesses or deaths during this encounter, due to the Wandholders quick thinking in evacuating the area and putting up various safe guards to keep muggle onlookers away. From broken accounts, it seems a large explosion started in the flat of Katie Bell and Angelina Johnson, which in turn set of a chain of violent events. "There's evidence that the explosion in the flat could have been a direct cause of leftover WWW fireworks, which sheds a bit of suspicion onto the two rebel girls. They were always very close to Fred and George Weasley, and leaves open for questioning their involvement in the Magical Summer Carnival Explosions," states Crime Scene Investigator Charles Monague. He would make no further comment on the two women's involvement until more forensic and magical evidence is uncovered.
Interview with a Traitor By Lenora Flint By now it's no secret that notorious Wandholder Ivonna Montgomery has quite suddenly, changed sides. This comes as a deafening blow to the DMLE, and while many speculate the woman has been Imperiused, I recently got the opportunity to communicate with this now rebel, to get her side of the story. L: Ms. Montgomery, thank you for taking a moment to do this. I won't waste any of your time, so I'll jump straight into it. What made you decide to leave the Wandholders and join the other side? You have a flourishing career as a Wandholder, and your dedication is well known among the department. What caused this sudden change of heart? I: There wasn't one certain thing that made me choose not to come back. It was a culmination of several things. I got to know the rebels, talked to them about why they were fighting, realized that it was impossible for them to have attacked the festival the way they did. And I started to see that I wasn't on the right side of things. Not that I think the rebels are right, either. Honestly, both sides are wrong in some areas. But, well-- I don't know. I guess I left the Ministry for good because I had something worth leaving for. L: Your cousin is also a well known Rebel, Amelia Higgs. Was she influential in your decision to leave? Did you feel your hand was forced as to not leave her alone in the dangerous unknown? Or is this really a ploy to try and get her back? I: I'm not commenting on my cousin. Her decisions and views are her own and I respect her too much to speak for her. But I will say that I'm glad I can see her again and be able to watch over her.
L: About four weeks ago, you made a public entry regarding biscuits. Ginger biscuits. It seemed like a joke at the time, but in light of recent events, do you have a comment to shed light on this? Were you, or are you, involved with a Weasley? I:Ms. Montgomery Noticeably blushes at this question Oh, um, well. I don't... uh. I don't know if I should, you know, talk about that? Because, um, well. I don't know? But, uh, yes? I guess? L: What would you like to say to those who think you are merely Imperiused, and not acting in your right mind? I: I'd say that it takes a certain sort of wizard or witch to use an Unforgiveable. We all know that. And that the only people I know capable of using them are still working for the Ministry. L: If you could do one thing differently in regards to your departure, what would it be? I: Well, not being kidnapped and tortured for a few days would've been great. Look, I didn't plan this. People don't always plan their lives. Shit just happens and you make do with the situation you find yourself in. I wish things were different. I wish I didn't have to choose between my career and my personal life or my beliefs. I wish they all meshed. But they don't and that's that.
