It was wonderful; getting to be a young man out on the town with his beautiful girl was nothing short of wonderful. It was the first time in a long time that Ron had had a chance to just be a young man with a young woman and shopping for themselves and their other young man partner. It was wonderful to walk down the street in the open air without worry that someone would be chasing them and looking for them. It was wonderful to just have a chance to breathe and not worry about the war that was happening around them. It would be too soon that they'd have to worry again, and Ron was glad for the break.
Ron couldn't help but keep looking at his girlfriend. She looked so beautiful in her dress and Ron was proud that he was on her arm today. He puffed up his chest a little and proudly walked on the arm of one of the most beautiful women he knew. If he looked closely, he could see the slight swell of her stomach, but knew that unless someone was really looking for it, they wouldn't be able to tell.
His favorite part of Susan's pregnancy was gently holding on to her stomach in the middle of the night and talking to their baby. He told her stories about growing up in the Burrow, about Mum and Dad and the seven siblings, about school at Hogwarts, and about Harry and Hermione. Those stories he saved until everyone else was asleep, and their breathing was even. He didn't want to make everyone uncomfortable with his memories of his childhood friends.
Ron felt his stomach grumble. He smiled when Susan looked over at him as she mentioned the word lunch. Of course he would want lunch, a Weasley's hunger was never satisfied. "Yeah, that would be great, Sus." He smiled. "What are you thinking? Maybe we could make it like a real date. Someplace with a patio, and something more impressive than fish and chips?"
