Who: Sienna Finch & Knox Bundy When: Saturday, June 2nd, 2004 Where: Central Park Zoo, New York City, New York What: Absolutely not a romantic holiday Rating: Low Status: In Progress
Sienna sat on a bench as she watched Knox pay for the large ice cream cone in her hand. It was far too large for any normal person and Sienna had every intention of finishing the entire chocolate, sprinkle coated, sugary treat. It was hot in New York and the cone was threatening to melt down her hands if she didn't pay close attention. She licked around the bottom of the ice cream, fighting against the sun's mission to destroy her confection.
The day before had been surprising. They'd arrived early in the morning and Knox had gone off to his meeting, leaving Sienna to settle into their hotel room. By the time he came back she was itching to go explore the city and they'd spent hours walking, talking, stopping for drinks or food. Before she realized it, it was nighttime and they headed back to the hotel. Sienna had every intention of jumping the man who's brought her across the ocean, but she was exhausted. Instead, they fell asleep on the large bed, Sienna's small frame tucked against Knox's.
Saturday brought another day of exploring. It was odd feeling comfortable with someone else. Her father's words echoed in her mind. Fun shouldn't become something serious. Sienna promised herself it wouldn't. They found themselves at the zoo and Sienna realized while waiting for him to come back to her that she'd been smiling all day.
Knox was... different. He was a little rough around the edges and far from proper. But he was fun and he seemed up for adventure. Sienna knew that she would never quite meet the standards of most of the men in Tinworth. She was wicked, yes, but she came from Muggles. Her father had raised her in his world, taught her everything she'd ever need to know, but she was still a little different. Seeing Nadia be courted by someone had been a wake up call for Sienna. She was thirty now. And she was alone, save for her father and sister. Being alone was starting to sound less and less appealing.
When Knox walked back over, Sienna shook herself out of her thoughts and stood up. "You didn't have to pay," she said. "But thank you."
