Cassius nodded as he listened to Evan scoff at him. "Yes, of course, you're right." Cassius still had a difficult time, sometimes, of remembering that they weren't working alone. His entire life he'd only had one partner in crime--Nora. With his background of hiding what he was, a sadist with a secret desire to cause pain for others, he often found himself being forced to remember that he wasn't working alone anymore. Even more, being one of Lucius's secret lovers often made him feel he had to outperform others.
It was obvious the moment Evan understood what he was asking. The line of his jaw tightened and his eyes felt cold as they appraised Cassius. Cassius gulped and could have easily said Nevermind if it weren't for Nadia. He smiled softly to himself as he remembered the way her hair blew as she was walking along the beach "exploring" as she liked to call it. He remembered the gentle way she held her beloved animals, and the way she tucked in close to him at the party, and the heat he saw in her eyes before the party came to a dramatic close.
Why Nadia? "She's everything, sir." Cassius said, his voice soft and warm. "She's kind and honest, and she's unafraid of who I am." His voice was quieter at that admission. "I... know I'm not the ideal candidate. She deserves someone more like her. Someone who doesn't have my past. But over the last few years, I've learned a lot about myself, and I know that I do well with commitment--more so than a lot of men my age. And I know that she's a girl to be respected, and cherished, and built up. I can do those things."
Cassius laid his case open, he tried to not let hope get the better of him, but he couldn't help but let a sliver of it through if one were to know him well. He bit the inside of his cheek as he looked up and waited for Rosier's response.
