The secret side of me
It comes awake and I can't control it
So stay away from me
As the sun sank lower in the sky that morning, Melinda knew what was going to happen. Her body ached with the need to run, to break free. Her first transformation was coming and there was no potion, no magic, nothing that could stop it. Being denied Wolfsbane for the last week had brought the Wolf to the surface and now all it needed was a flash of moonlight before it broke free. Melinda had to make peace with what was going to happen, but the fear had consumed her. People killed werewolves. And why shouldn't they, in this state? She could only pray and hope that when the sun came up again she'd be alive.
Several men came as the last light of day was fading. The wolves were scooped up and separated. Melinda was dragged out of the town and a small part of her was happy to be away from the borders. If she could survive the night then maybe, just maybe, she'd be free again. Maybe she could go home to Kirley.
Kirley. Please, Godric, let him be locked up safe that night. Let him be behind walls and doors and far away so that she couldn't catch the scent of him in the air. Melinda's thoughts were with her fiancee as she was suddenly apparated into the city. The smell of people, of liquor, of sex, of smoke it all hit her at once and she bent over, crying out sharply. It was coming. Her blood was starting to boil, running hot through her veins. Her bones were shaking, ready to grow and change.
"No," she managed to gasp out. "Please, don't make me do this. Please." But the men only laughed and pushed her through a doorway. The room was small, dark. She couldn't tell where she was, only that people were nearby. Melinda heard a door slam behind her, leaving her and another witch in the room. "We have to apparate to the woods," Mel said and focused as best as she could. She wouldn't do this. She couldn't hurt anyone.
But it was too late. Without her wand and her mind lost to the wolf, Mel didn't have time to get away. The first ray of moonlight hit her and she cried out. Her bones twisted and turned, breaking and growing as her body stretched and reshaped itself. She felt claws growing, her face changing and within moments, Mel lost any sense of herself. She was gone. Only the wolf remained.
Her yellow eyes looked around the room and eyed the window. Growling, the werewolf leaped through it, shattering the glass. She was in Knockturn. She could smell people, hear them. Silently, carefully, the wolf waited for the other to join her, quickly towering over her and making it clear who was in command that evening. Together, the two wolves moved towards Diagon, seeking their prey.
