Sundays were the one day Hestia took off from the shop. She used it to tend to the house, visit her family, and have a little time with Mercy. That Sunday was no exception. It was Mother's Day, but Hestia understood that particular holiday wasn't easy for her daughter. She'd never made a big deal of it, always choosing to be sensitive to the fact that Mercy had lost her biological mother.
That particular Sunday, Mercy had told Hestia that she was going off with some friends. Having no reason to doubt her, Hestia hugged her daughter goodbye and told her to come home by dark. With a clean house, and all her domestic tasks done for the day, Hestia decided to curl up in her living room with a good book. She'd never been one to have a particularly adventurous life, so curling up quietly was her idea of the perfect day.
When the door opened later that evening, Hestia smiled to herself, but didn't get up from the sofa. "Have a good day, sweetie," Hestia called out, turning the page of her book.
