Learning to walk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin? Learning to talk again I believe I've waited long enough Where do I begin?
The very fact that she had to rearrange her schedule to make time for her best friend told Sophie that she had been working far too much. Granted, the number of hours she spent at the Ministry weren't likely to decrease, not with the current state of the world. Some people had to make sacrifices for the betterment of the world and Sophie understood that. She was fiercely loyal to the Ministry, believing in his vision and leadership more than she even believed in herself. Rabastan was going to bring peace to the world, Sophie had no doubt of that. And while she wasn't naive enough to think that the Minister had shared every detail of his plans with her, she knew that he wouldn't be able to lead without her support. He needed her and she was going to be there for him as much as possible.
But, with both Alec and Rodolphus making comments in the same day about how much time she was at her office, Sophie had to try to make an effort to spend more time with the people she loved the most. And Rod, Henry, and Alec were the three most important people in her life. So rearranging her therapy appointment to meet Alec for dinner was a compromise that Sophie found easy to make.
She'd had her car service take her through London, dangerously near her parents' flat. Sophie wondered for a moment if she should pop in a say hello, but she hadn't spoken to her parents since Christmas. She supposed she would need to call on them soon, but not that night. Tonight was for Alec. She beat him to the restaurant by a few minutes and Sophie wheeled herself to a table, ordering a bottle of wine to share.
