Who: Katie Bell & Alec Vaisey What: Baby Date Catch-up! Where: Funsters, Poole, Dorset When: Friday Afternoon, 2nd March Rating: Low Status: In Progress
Katie had been looking forward to today all week, not just because having a good excuse to get out of the house made her feel less guilty about leaving Remus alone, but because even though she was never going to the kind of girl who'd find themselves short of friends, time spent with Alec was different than with the others. Their past and the fact that he'd saved her life more than once likely played a key part in that, but more than anything it was freedom she loved, the knowing their conversations were completely lacking in pretence and that even after all the crap they'd been through, they could still meet in a ridiculous place like this and talk over coffee with their children close by.
She was sat in a shallow ball pit with Mason sat opposite when a loud jingle announced that somebody new had arrived. Katie turned her head, already knowing it was Alec. The place was quiet- not empty exactly, but a far cry from how busy it usually was- a small detail Katie just might have had something to do with. Afterall, it was difficult to have a proper conversation with a friend when there was nowhere to sit and all you could hear was the screaming of toddlers and small children. This way Katie and Alec could talk, they could dump their things on a table nearest the baby play area and the muggles would be none the wiser.
Once Alec was inside and was headed their way, Katie shifted Mason so that his padded bottom touched the floor and that the plastic balls reached his tummy. She then stood, readjusted her dungarees at the hip and made a beeline for the Vaisey boys, a smile on her face as she hurried their way, intending to give them both a giant squeeze, Alec first and then Grey if it turned out he was awake.
