Who: Ron, Susan, and Draco
What: Draco is getting them out of the motel, no matter what it takes
When: Wednesday night
Rating: Low?
Warnings: None
Draco had told Susan and Ron he was going out for supplies, and in a way it wasn't a lie. The money he got today would get them our of the motel and into a decent cottage, at least. Susan deserved something decent, and Draco didn't thibk Ron would last much longer. The sheer number of spiders in the place would unhinge him sooner rather than later. So he needed to do this. Susan couldn't access her money without being caught, this was the only way. And it wasn't like it mattered. It was just some papers getting rid of a name he hated and an inheritance he didn't want. It didn't matter at all...
His steps slowed as he got closer to the bank, but he forced himself to walk briskly in.
"I'm here to speak with Herman Fayette?"
Part of him still expected a trap as the old squib walked over. His family and many other "Purenlood elite" used Herman for their more mundane affairs. But the whole transaction went smoothly. Draco was handed a stack of papers to sign and given just over a million pounds in a discreet leather case. Draco read carefully through the contract but it was all in order. No hidden tricks or loopholes. Just a clean, easy breaking of ties. Dracos pen hovered over the page.
When I sign this, I won't be a Malfoy anymore.
His fingers started to tremble. He couldn't do this. He... He had to do this.
He closed his eyes for a moment, summoning the cold, empty place that let him watch his father torture people without flinching. The empty, emotionless bubble that allowed him to hurt and be hurt and walk away at the end.
He signed the papers.
The minutes later, face blank and eyes hard, Draco threw the case on the motel bed.
"We can leave now."
