Ideally? Ivy let that question sit for a long moment. She mulled it over in her head, ignoring her immediate response and sorting through all her thoughts and feelings before she knew the answer she was giving one the correct one.
"I want to be happy again," she finally said. "I want him to be happy too." Whether they found that happiness with each other or with others was irrelevant she realized. Being miserable wasn't doing her any good and it was never going to change until she changed, right? Apparently this was growth, Ivy thought to herself. Much needed and far too late growth.
Sitting up, Ivy sighed before turning to her best friend. "Alright," she said with an annoyed looked on her face. Being lectured ever so gently by John was a hallmark of their relationship. "I'll try to talk to him, but no promises it'll go well. And, if it doesn't, I'll let it go. Honest."
