During the explosion - Nora and Joseph
He was being nice. It was always weird when he was being nice, but at the same time, Nora couldn't help but take advantage of it. After all, it was just relaxing to not have to be fighting someone for a while. Doing it for as long as she had been, always being on the defensive, well it was downright exhausting.
Besides, the fact remained that she didn't hate Joseph. Not completely. Well, she did, but... it was so bloody confusing and complicated in her mind. He was blackmailing her, and he was part of the reason she was so bloody miserable all the fucking time, but he could also be something else entirely when he wanted to be. He gave her things, he provided some comfort, on rare occasion, and hell, the sex when she actually wanted it was amazing.
But he was still the reason she was stuck as the wife of someone she hated. He was still in control of her freedom, and that left a sick, horrible feeling in her gut always.
So she couldn't help as she looked up at him in the glow of the Ferris wheel light, trying to decide if she wanted to say anything, or just remain silent. Sometimes silence was just better, she supposed. As the fireworks started up, Nora lifted her head to the sky, the tiniest smile pulling at the corner of her lips at the sight. That was, until a giant boom, and heat blossomed all around them leaving her disoriented. Screaming rang in her ears as the ride began crumbling, carts and other pieces of metal raining down on them. She was pushed backwards by several fleeing fair patrons, separated momentarily from Joseph as a huge snapping noise rang out above her. Someone else pushed her, this time resulting in her falling to the ground as something huge and heavy landed on her, pinning her to the ground and crushing far too many important parts in the process. It was instantly hard to breathe, a small cry sounding from her was all she could manage.
