The Journal System |
The journals were a creation of Fred and George Weasley and have been a part of wizarding society since shortly before Voldemort's takeover. As with many good ideas, the journals were quickly seized upon by other manufacturers who put them into mass production and the slim, leather bound volumes are now available for purchase at just about any wizarding bookstore. Not every member of wizarding society possesses a journal - most do not, in fact - but they are a popular means of communication, particularly for members of the Order and the Death Eaters who have come to rely on the books for sending messages to others. Prisoners in Azkaban are granted a journal by the Ministry shortly before they are released into the slave program and assigned an owner. |
Journal Wards |
Different hexes are viewable to different people, just as with any other game. However there are multiple ways to include (and exclude) members of one organization from being able to read hexes. Note that hexes are to the individual, not to the journal itself so a Death Eater who comes into possession of an Order member's journal is not going to be able to read entries warded to Order members. FOR MEMBERS OF THE ORDER: Common Hexes: Free Order - This is a hex for those members of the Order who are either living in society under the guise of being neutral, or those members in hiding. Prisoners and slaves are excluded so they are unable to reveal information under interrogation. Order Of The Phoenix - This is a hex for all member of the Order both in hiding, in slavery, in prison, or living in society as a neutral person. Order Members and Sympathisers - For all people aligned with the Order's cause. FOR MEMBERS OF DUMBLEDORE'S ARMY: Common Hexes: Order Sympathetic DA Members - This is a hex for those members of the DA who are also members of the Order, or Order Sympathetic. It excludes all DA members who are neutral or aligned with the Death Eaters. Dumbledore's Army - Would include all members from Harry's Fifth Year. No additional members were added as Neville, Ginny, and Luna never returned to Hogwarts and therefore never restarted the DA. FOR DEATH EATERS: Common Hexes: Inner Circle - For members of Voldemort's Inner Circle. (If you are uncertain whether or not your character would be considered a member, please ask.) Dinner Party Death Eaters - This is a group organised by the Lestranges that consists of those Death Eaters with a particular taste and talent for violence. Membership is currently Bellatrix, Rodolphus, Rabastan and Danielle Lestrange, Walden MacNair, Alecto Carrow, Lorcan d'Eath and Valkyrie Moon. Death Eaters - This is a hex for all currently active Death Eaters. Those who have defected or been cast out will not be able to read these hexes. Death Eaters and Sympathisers - To all those people aligned with the Death Eater cause. OTHER HEXES: The Legion - A hex currently only for Hestia Jones and Charlie Weasley. This is Hestia's more violent resistance group that she formed after leaving the Order. The Quartet - In canon we have the Trio. In this game we have the Quartet - this consists of Harry Potter, Ginny Weasley-Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Hexes for/to slaves - Slaves do not own wands and therefore cannot hex anything to anyone, or make an entry private to themselves. In order for a hex to be done and a conversation to be private someone with a wand must hex both sides of the conversation, or hex a particular area private. This hex must be reflected through comments, or in the cut tag in which it was done - otherwise it is not valid. |
