Bad news about someone getting arrested or killed was a pretty common occurrence these days. To the point where Gina was actually starting to feel immune towards it all. Maybe it was a side-effect of being isolated up in the Hogwarts castle, but it just seemed to be getting easier and easier to ignore the stories in the Prophet and pretend that everything was perfectly fine. Except that was easier to do when the war wasn't directly affecting people she actually knew.
Gina didn't even know how to react to Cho's news that her father had been taken by Carrow or one of the other Death Eaters - she wasn't quite clear on that part. Obviously she was horrified, but she was also just terribly confused. Cho's family were purebloods and these things were not supposed to happen to purebloods, were they? Not to mention that all of this was just a reminder of Gina's own raging hypocrisy. She was a Muggleborn, pretending to be a half-blood, working for a Death Eater, pretending to support the Ministry propaganda, educating the children of Death Eaters, and oh yes, sleeping with one of them. The Death Eaters, not the children. She'd been doing what she thought was a rather admirable job of ignoring all of those "little issues" but now, as she rushed through the halls of Hogwarts to Cho's office, it was all staring her quite unpleasantly in the face.
Thankfully she'd already finished her morning class when she got the message from Cho about her father. She'd left a note on the classroom door for her seventh years to do an independent study (which she knew full well they wouldn't do) and went straight to Cho's office. Undoubtedly Headmaster Snape would not be pleased with all of this but as far as Gina was concerned that just meant he should keep his Death Eater friends from arresting the relatives of his professors. Not that she had any idea how that was supposed to work, but she wasn't thinking terribly rationally at the moment anyway. When she finally got to Cho's office, she knocked softly on the door before just poking her head in. "Cho?"
