Happy Daft Day, [info]arielhime!
Recipient: [info]arielhime
Title: Poco Allegretto
Author: [info]gin_tonic
Rating: NC-17
Wordcount: 16,700
Warning: Alternate Reality
Prompt/Summary: Severus Snape, conductor of the Hogsmeade Symphony Orchestra finds himself faced with a new addition to his orchestra. That addition's name is Harry Potter and Severus is not at all amused by his presence – and therefore he must leave; the sooner the better.
A/N: Ariel, you said you liked some angst that resolves itself, courtship/seduction, music (or any of the Arts, in general), foreign languages, different cultures / moving to a different country, non-magical AU or AR and first times and many, many other stuff that I could choose from. I hope this lives at up to your expectations – at least a bit. I had loads of fun writing and researching for this. :)
Many thanks go to my dear translators E and P, who will never know that they contributed to a slash story, and to the absolutely fabulous [info]drachenmina for so many suggestions and beta-reading!
The evaluation of the musicians is not mine – it's what the characters think, I swear! XD

It... is... *sputters* *takes deep breath and tries again* OMG!!!!! *squeals in absolute delight* Oh my goodness!!! This is absolutely amazing. Fantastic. Perfect!

Oh! You took all of my favorite things and managed to put them together into this beautiful piece! *squeals* I can't stop. Oh my goodness... *deep breath and tries to be coherent* The music! *loves it*. The idea... the story itself. *runs around in excited circles, giggling*

conductor!Snape.... oh my god... I *LOVE* him. He was absolutely perfect. His master plan to try to get Harry out of his precious orchestra. His change/growth of character as the story progressed. His growing appreciation... and possession, ha ha... of Harry Potter! *fans self* I love it!

And Harry! I can relate with how Severus described him... being able to change and immerse himself into his art, in Harry's case playing the oboe. I love Harry's growing attraction, and hesitation, and just everything!

And of course...deliciously hot scenes. First when Severus tried to claim Harry after being out. The "MINE" part made me grin. It was perfect! And then the second with the dinner and going on from there... *fans self* Oh my... very hot indeed!

I hope I am making sense because I feel I am just rambling! Wow... I am amazed by this darling and I truly love it! I can still picture select scenes clearly in my mind. Wow...I am glad you had fun writing and researching for this! Wow.. I am just... speechless now... *makes grabby fingers and holds fic possessively*

My dear... you're brilliant!

Thank you. Thank you! THANK YOU!!!!

*huggles very tightly*

Such a vivid story! I loved the music and the sites that they visited. Snape as an orchestra conductor is fabulous--I think it's my new favorite characterization of him.

Wow. This was unusual but smoothly written and very enjoyable. I liked the slow progression and the possesive and IC Snape!

Very good! I loved everything about this story. Well written and researched. And the instruments you had the characters fit very well with their image.

Brava! Loved all the locales, the politics in the orchestra, Dumbledore (and Severus's final thought on that!). I must say I really loved Harry leaving that first time so they could get it right later on. A real masterpiece. Well done.

I haven't read that many AR Snarry stories, but I have a hankering for more now, LOL! That was great!

Loved the detail in the music setting. The going on's in the orchestra and the little tid bits.

Snape as conductor, hah, I can just imagine him!

But I just have to ask. Do you live in Cologne? At least you visited or have a friend who visited.

Especially the information about the new window in the cathedral (*lol* I just had to think about the controversy it sparked - I think it's beautiful) and the placement of the Hyatt, etc. are things which I don't think you could get so easily from the Web.

A lovely, romantic story. I enjoyed the slowly developing relationship, the orchestra setting and the travelling. The sightseeing in Cologne was particularly memorable.

Great re-casting of the characters. Gilderoy, particularly, was in his element as the narcissistic viola player, and I liked Draco’s effect on Severus’ possessiveness. Harry was a fascinating combination of strength and fragility.

Eeee, I loved this one! I adore intense-concentration Harry, with his sweet shyness and blushes (and delectable arse, om nom nom) and prickly Snape waiting and pouncing on Harry, then actually waiting to get to know Harry a bit before they end up in bed together for real. The details of the tour, the sightseeing, and the places they visit were very fun. So enjoyable!

What a wonderful world you have created! So enjoyable in every way, but especially to read our characters in unfamiliar settings yet well within their familiar guises.

This was excellently paced and so sweetly written. Unfortunately it just makes me pant to hear more from the irascible conductor and his delightful oboe player.
