Goodness, leianora, you've overwhelmed me with this comment. I'm so glad you liked this story; I was really surprised when I took a relatively simple idea and it took off into novella size. I was keen on showing a Severus who'd lived without intervention of masters for some time; a man who had time to be the person he otherwise would have been. A mature man, really, because JKR's Snape never got past a kind of adolescent outlook on life in some ways, with the grudges and hopeless, unrequited love. That strikes me as rather Victorian in this day and age, and a sad reflection on a life that something you do at such an early age can finish you in some ways. I know it can if it's murder or something, but love? Sorry, I digress. Thank you for reading and leaving me such a lovely comment. hugs, rakina
