Hi Rakina! Thank you so much for this--you really knocked the prompt right out of the ballpark! :D Snape was possessive without being crazed in a psychotic scary way, which enabled a happy ending when it could've gone down rather badly...And Harry's interactions with Cho were really well done! I especially liked the part where he gets overanxious and snaps at her about Cedric--it was so plausible.
I also really liked these lines:
I have watched you moping around; love-sick, making me sick.
That has such wonderful rhythm--I know some people get distracted by certain rhythms in prose but I love it and this one was perfect.
But I know she lies; she loves being seen, so all the silly girls can envy her: the girlfriend of the Gryffindor hero. I almost choke on the knowledge that I envy her too.
This jumped at me because I like Severus' awareness of his own absurdity. I find Severus so believable and compelling when he acknowledges in some way, if only to himself, the bizarreness of being obsessed by this kid, this student of his. It's too Lolita for words and yet it happens, it's a real thing and he has to confront it, eventually, somehow.
Harry is shaking his head at me. "You're so strange."
This captured Harry's awkwardness, fear, incredulity, and uncertainty in a remarkable way. I can just see Harry with a kind-of smile, half cringing back though the closet doesn't allow him more space, thinking what in the world is going on here?! That whole sensation of knowing but not knowing is crystallized here--it's the perfect response to the fact that Severus is strange, for wanting this relationship or sex or whatever with Harry.
Thank you again for an awesome fic--it was intense and abosrbing and I had a terrific time reading it! *hugs*
