Art: Protective Custody - for [info]sev1970
Title: Protective Custody
Artist: Certainly not Severus Snape
Giftee: [info]sev1970
Media/Medium: Ballpoint pen on paper
Rating: PG
Pairing: Snarry
Warnings: None
Disclaimer: All Harry Potter characters herein are the property
of J.K. Rowling and Bloomsbury/Scholastic. No copyright infringement
is intended.
Summary: Harry certainly didn't enjoy spending the last part of
his sixth year in detention after the Sectumsempra incident, copying
out his father's past misdeeds. Imagine having to watch over him for
hours on end, from only a few feet away, knowing what happened, what
will never be, and what's coming... Any day now.
Artist's Notes: You asked for gen, with angsty Harry and
protective Snape at Hogwarts. I hope this fits the bill! All furniture
and the knicknacks on Snape's desk, including the lopsided oil lamp
with modern lampshade on, were inspired by Snape's office as it
appeared in the CoS movie.

Great job! You pulled off their expressions and the surroundings spectacularly and in ink which is so easy to make a mistake with no less!

I love the premise, and Snape's tortured face, and all the little details! And in such a hard medium too! Looks great. :)

I LOVE IT!

*Stares at the loveliness again and tries to form coherent thoughts*

Oh! Thank you so much, mystery artist! Can't. Stop. Staring. Seriously, how can you do what you did? I am sure you had no idea that my favorite mediums in art are any type of sketches ... or perhaps you did :-) This piece is made of all kinds of win. Your shading is impeccable, my dear. And Harry and Severus's expressions? Priceless! But back to the shading - this must have taken you forever to do. The details: all of them - as I said earlier, I can't stop staring. Their outfits are so well done, and the way you have Snape's arms crossed is so very Severus Snape. And your Harry is so very MY Harry. Okay, I'll stop blathering on now and get back to staring at the pretty :-)

Thank you again so very much for this. I can't wait to find out who you are

Oh wow. That's amazing. Their expressions, their poses, the details. And that you did it with a ballpoint pen... so very amazing.

WOW! I wish I could do that with a ball point pen (oh wait, make that any media) ;)
You're wonderfully talented, and this is beautifully done.

Oh, I love art of all kinds, but have a special love for work done on paper with a pencil or pen. The details here are amazing. The background, the expressions on both their faces, the textures of their clothing, the shading. Really fantastic work.

Wow, that's fantastic! I've always wondered what Snape was thinking about during those detentions and you've captured the scene so perfectly. Great job.

OH, well done! Ballpoint pen on paper gave you such great detail. Love Snape's body language and Harry's cluelessness sullenness. And I really like the way the circular room forces a sort of intimacy into this. Great job!

This is pretty much how I envisioned that scene. Such great shading and attention to detail. I love it!

Oh, my. That's absolutely stunning. The detail! I can't tell you how much I love this piece. It's so very well done, and I have no idea how you did all the different shades of grey in ink like that! Just incredibly, incredibly well done. I adore the curvin bookshelves in the background- the effect is lovely. Just absolutely wonderfully done.

Ooh, I love this. It has such a wonderful mood! I particularly love Harry (his face!) and the way Snape's standing over him. And you've got so many fantastic details. Great, great job! :)

Every time I look at this, I notice more and more detail that I missed the time before. And I love how "inelegant" a pen seems when compared to all the art media available, yet how intricate and beautifully it works. Great piece.

What remarkable detail! I love how you are able, with just the crosshatching of your pen, to give such a sense of texture. I also think that the claustrophic atmosphere of the circular room gives another layer to the angst. Poor Harry, and Poor Severus!

But go, you! Beautiful work.

Oh, how unhappy they both look and how adorable at the same time because of their alikeness. The facial expressions are beautifully done, and I like the way their body language creates a sense of awkward togetherness, which is enhanced by the curved bookshelves.

Lovely, moody drawing.
