Yeah, I agree. A ring is really becoming almost a rote thing, something one gives because it's expected. And while it's still a special thing, it's ever so much better to get (and give) something that says unequivocally just how much you care for that special someone. If a compass like that really existed, it'd be the sort of statement that, I think, would make ANYONE believe that they are loved beyond all doubt. Just looking at the picture makes me smile in an utterly sappy way, my heart swelling up from the sheer love and, and, and.. lovliness that it communicates.
No worries, I understand what you meant. It sounds like a lovely way to create something, and I really can't argue with the end results, lol. (I need a scanner so I can try to get a similar effect. Just because it looks so damn awesome. Mwahaha.)
Yeah, I know, I know. I have a bad habit of drawing males with just a little too much curve around the hips/buttocks, and I'm trying to work on that, lol. But even so I don't think a male's back is quite that flat. xD But it's alright, really; nothing can be perfect, but your picture is about as close as one can get, I think. ^_^
*squees* Yay! You are absolutely awesome! And of course you'll get to read it once I write it (which may take a while; I still have a couple of fest fics to finish, and I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year, so I'm like busybusybusy. Hehe. But I definately want to write something to go with this). You can even be the first reader, if you want. ^_^
