This was great - hilarious, moving, hot and with just enough angst. Really, a very entertaining, festive blend.
The bass had an uncanny ability to choose the most (in)appropriate song for each situation, like singing Rudolph the red nosed reindeer had a very shiny nooooooooose when Severus tried to silence it and our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum when Harry was about to give Severus his gift. I loved Harry’s playful “Are you going to ‘rum pum pum pum’ me? I see you brought your drumstick.” To change the song to I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus when Severus was devastated wasn’t very nice, but at least he got a chance to vent his feelings. I’d never before heard of a song called "Six White Boomers". Thanks to YouTube, I can now fully appreciate the image of Severus mouthing along the words. *g*
I also enjoyed your way of depicting their relationship throughout and how you showed that they truly were a couple with small details like this: Now Harry would be hanging his cloak next to the door and toeing his winter boot off, no doubt leaving them in the middle of the hallway again.
Every time I read this story, I find something new to admire in the language. Some of the descriptive parts are beautiful, the dialogue is fantastic and everything from the limpet to the barnacle wonderfully witty.
