CLOSING GAMES DRABBLES #3= Zoologyke!

Original poster: snarrymod

Oh, hi, Livejournal! *distracts with shiny*

Our third Drabbler went all out, using both settings, practically every genre, and quite a few original prompts. Without further ado, we welcome:

Author: [info]zoologyke
Beta: [info]that_girl_siva
Warnings:Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * ... Implied mpreg in one of the drabbles. Implied death in a few. *
Ratings: Up to ~PG13

Prompt: Time bomb
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Humour.

Harry only realised upon waking that he’d entered the wrong time in the stasis-bomb that was meant to forever stop Voldemort. Neither Severus or himself had enough time to escape the blast.
‘…can’t even press buttons right. God, Gryffindor!’
‘Slytherin!’
It wasn’t until a rotund female walked upon their conversation that they realised just how wrong each had been about the so-called time bomb.
‘Sorry to interrupt, but can I be of any help? Strange name you have; short for Godric right? I’m Helga Hufflepuff by the way. Welcome to the future home of Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry’.

Prompt: Trojan Horse
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Humour

‘…and with my toga flapping about me, I jumped from the horse, sword swinging and decapitated the evil Lord, and that’s how I won the second war.’
All Harry could think when he entered the room was that Severus should never be allowed to do DIY again. The shelf had apparently hit him much harder than previously thought, if the story he had just told their children was anything to be judged by. Although it was a fun and lively tale, it definitely wasn’t the story about the last day of Voldemort’s reign that their three kids had asked for.

Prompt: Scorched Earth
Setting: Postwar
Genre: H/C

Wrapping his arms around the young man, Severus could not help but let loose a few tears. Terrible memories assulted him as soon as he stepped foot near to area they were visiting. He had to be strong though as the elder of the only two school survivors of the war. As depressed as he was, Harry required him to be strong. They had been told to try and help each other and move on, but how could they? Hogwarts, its staff and pupils were no longer there. All that was left, all that could be seen, was scorched earth.

Prompt: Prisoner Of War (POW)
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Horror

At last it was done. The war would finally be won because he’d created the ultimate weapon. The potion that secreted goodness was a stroke of genius, but the fact that Severus had unknowingly sealed his own fate by creating it made it even sweeter. Who knew that Harry contained even more hate than the traitor Severus did? Bonding them and their disturbing hatred together was a simple process once the potion was used.
Voldemort smiled down at his creation. This modern-day Frankenstine would be the end of the wizarding world as everyone knew it. Finally he would rule all.

Prompt: Wolfsbane
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Angst

He stared at the silver pool that was slowly forming below the gaping wound on the scarred arm before him. A broken vial lay just out of reach of the limp, grasping hand, resting on the floor. The war might be over, but casualties were still inescapable; especially for proven traitors of the dark. Knowledge from years of study to create an almost impossible cure meant the potion master feared turning into a beast each month more than he feared death. Harry felt a tear slip down his face. Here was the proof that wolfsbane really was the final solution.

Prompt: Patronus
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Romance

Casting a protective glance towards Harry, Severus silently wished him luck .He tried to focus upon fighting the rallying Death Eaters and to not let the beastly Lord leak out his happiness, but he was horrified by the knowledge that his lover was battling Voldemort. Harry’s shout momentarily distracted him though. They had decided a patronus could kill Voldemort due to the extent of his transformation. But what slipped from Harry’s wand was not a stag; instead he saw himself rushing towards the Dark Lord. Even in these desperate times their love could be counted on to save them all.

Prompt: Hostile Teritory
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Angst

Each step led him closer; closer to freedom, closer to his doom. On he went though struggling to reach his destination, worry and guilt warring inside him. Reaching the person he sought out, he promptly collasped to his knees between the Great Hall’s benches. Intense green eyes glared down at him. With tears almost pouring down his face he met the gaze of his once-student.

‘Why?’

He couldn’t justify his actions though. Although Dumbledore had pleaded with him to do it, Severus was still a murderer. How could he ever have expected Harry to forgive him for killing their mentor?

Prompt: Phoenix Tears
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Angst

Voldemort slowly collapsed still looking shocked that The-Boy-Who-Lived had managed the killing curse. The thud of the Dark Lord’s body hitting the ground roused Harry from the trance casting had left him in. Glacing around, he saw his comrads surrounded by an emerald glow. Closer inspection showed a giant lightning bolt shaped wound had formed upon Severus’ chest. Harry’s anguished cry overshadowed the flapping of Fawkes’ wings as the bird approached them. With Fawkes leaning over Severus, Harry could only stare as the green glow ebbed away, leaving just a limp body in its wake. Phoenix tears couldn’t cure everything.

Prompt: Ollivander's
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Romance

Neither thought that they would be back inside this building again, but it was the only way they could beat Voldemort. Dismissing the normal magical substances, Harry pondered what had saved him the first time from the Dark Lord- his mother’s love. Love would be what won this war, not strength or power. With this in mind he placed two items on the counter. While the wand-maker began making his latest creation, Harry tenderly gazed at Severus. He knew that with his lover’s freely given blood-soaked hair as the core of his new wand he would ultimately win the war.

Prompt: Muggle Protection Act
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Alternate reality

Nobody could have predicted that battling Voldemort would have created this situation. Harry certainly never dreamt that winning would mean accompanying Severus all day, everyday, no matter the circummstances. After they luckily survived a rifle attack he felt it was his duty though; especially since he was one of the only remaining muggle-borns. He had to become a teacher to try to keep his partner safe. If only he had not tried to recruit muggles to the war effort by revealing magic to them. Now Harry had no choice but become one of the leaders of the muggle protection act.

Prompt: Relic
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Horror

‘What have we done? There is hardly any magic left now since we wizards started marrying muggles. I would never have believed that magic could be diluted, but here is the proof. I just pray we can revive the magic in the next generation. Dear Merlin, please never let this happen to us again.’

Harry and Severus collapsed into each other. The diary entry was damning evidence of the doom they had brought to their world by winning the war. They never should have stopped Voldemort’s reign. The Hogwart’s founders had said it right; just what exactly had they done?

Prompt: Chain of Command
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Horror

‘Harry, come to me.’

As Harry started taking slow, halting steps towards him, Severus knew he had done the right thing. The silver chain-link necklace that he had given to Harry as a surprise gift was a stroke of genius. He was still amazed that he had managed to combine the imperius curse with an everyday object, creating an artefact that caused even Harry to obey his every demand while it was worn. With Voldemort gone for good and the saviour of the wizarding world under his command, the position of the next Dark Lord was his for the taking.

Prompt: Horcrux
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Angst

‘I’ve found the last Horcrux,’ whispered Harry, staring into the midnight black eyes of his beloved. ‘If he’s destroyed it will help to end the war for good.’

‘He?’

In that one question Severus knew that neither their once hatred nor their love bore any influence on their current situation.. The guilt, sadness and adoration that shone from Harry’s eyes in that moment Severus would remember to the grave. His famous hatred was at last explained

‘I’m sorry. I love you Severus.’

The green light flowing from Harry’s wand only highlighted the tears that marked the end of their romance.

Prompt: Diversion
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Humour

The clock beat exactly in time with the grinding of Severus’ teeth and the tick of Harry’s eyelid. The climax of decades of fighting was finally approaching and neither combatant thought that it could finish too soon. The world needed to see the end of the misery that Voldemort caused it by living. But that last battle could not have seemed as far away as it did to them at that moment with the roar of the crowds surrounding them.

‘Why did you insist we have the element of surprise by taking the car instead of a portkey? Stupid diversions!’

Prompt: King’s Cross
Setting: Wartime
Genre: Alternate universe

Just months before he had been in mourning after discovering that his mentor had become victim to the war. Disloyalty at such a crucial moment was considered the worst sin. Despite his love for his comrade, Harry knew what the rumours said- Severus was no longer to be trusted.

But when he discovered Severus following him to the battle-front, bearing the red sign of their King’s cross, he knew that he hadn’t been betrayed. He could only hope that they would both survive the fight and promised himself that he would make it up to Severus for ever disbelieving him.

Prompt: Sympathizer
Setting: Postwar
Genre: Angst (Inspired by Schindler’s List)

I see them rounded up, thrown into the chambers and can only think thank Merlin I managed to save some of them. Dangerous potions always need ‘expendable’ brewers. I thought I chose the right side. The Dark Lord’s words had made so much sense. And the power; I wanted the power. But standing here, watching them waiting to die, I know I was wrong; they’re human. Then I see his messy black hair disappear into the crowds and I know I didn’t do enough. I could’ve gotten one more bribe. There’s always one more. I could have saved one more.

Thank you, [info]zoologyke!
