INTERVIEW # 9
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: Cluegirl
Your Team: Angst
1. What made you decide to agree to compete in these games?
Peer pressure. All the cool kids were playing, and I thought they might at least let me be the Safety Monkey.
2. Why did you choose the Angst Team?
Because -- Whenever I click on an unfamiliar name in my 'friends of' list, chances are better than %80 that their friends list will begin with Amanuensis1, and end with Wizard_trauma. That kind of says something about my audience's expectations, doesn't it?
3. Have you always been interested in the Severus Snape/Harry Potter dynamic?
It was the first Potter fanfic I wrote, so yeah. I love it because it's so difficult!
4. What is more challenging to you – working WITH strict canon or working AROUND strict canon?
Plausibly working around. Which is why I always seem to be doing it.
5. What motivates you?
A driving need to create, and often a sense of isolation which I'm trying to overcome by making friends on the intarweb. Pathetic, I know.
6. Do you have plans for (or are you already writing) original fiction?
Yes. Someday, I plan to have Anne Rice's job. And then I might take Laurel Hamilton's too, just out of spite.
7. What three things are necessary for you to enjoy a story you are reading?
Plausible characterization. High stakes, either personal, or social. Believable dialogue. Decent skill with prose and grammar. The good guy has to win, or at least not precisely lose. That last one's a soft point with me. I'll replace it with a hard point: It has to have an ENDING!
8. What are your Top 5 favourite fanfiction stories?
Variable. They change from week to week, but here are some which leap readily to mind.
Rushlight's Through a Shattered Mirror and Walking the Mirror's Edge
Amanuensis' A World Not So Black Nor White
Cybelle San's If You Are Prepared series.
Calligryphy's The Fourth Year
Aucta Sinistra's Beech Hall
9. Do you have a story (any fandom) you’ve done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
I think my best story to date as far as skill and content, was Severus Snape and the Ghostwritten Romance. I had to take Potter canon, and make it fit with the general plot of Cyrano De Bergerac with as few left turns and WTF's as possible. I felt in the end, I did it rather well.
10. Are you excited about the Games?
Excited. Yes. Let's call it excited, shall we?
*Hides under bed*
Thank you, cluegirl!
