TEAM MEMBER INTERVIEW #17 - V!
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name (and lj name if different): V cnary_crem_dght
Your Games Team: Team Angst (teamangst_art)
1. What made you decide on Team Angst?
I decided on Team Angst because I like to explore dark themes in fan art, as well as in fine art.
2. Which HP character is your favourite to create in art?
Snape, he is the most fascinating character in the books, in my opinion.
3. Has your experience in fandom changed the way you do art? How?
I don’t think fandom has changed the way I do art asides from just letting me practice. It keeps me busy and improves my understanding of art. After only taking one or two art classes in the past two years I found myself to be able to jump back into making paintings and drawings that is still above par from most of my age group.
Other than that I believe that it’s really the other way around, my fine art changed the way I do fandom art.
4. Do you prefer drawing your own scenarios, or drawing scenes from canon?
Canon scenes bore me. If I wanted to draw out scenes from a book I’d be striving to be an illustrator.
5. What made you decide to draw fanart the first time? Which fandom was it?
When I was little I drew all the time. I would draw bodies and clothing with shoes. I wanted to go into fashion, as art + little girl= fashion in a child’s mind. When I got a little older I read a lot and lost that drawing sensibility. I was more concerned with stories and history, than with wanting to express myself through those designs. That was until I started watching Anime. Then I found I could not stop drawing characters from these shows, or my own characters based on these shows. My first fandom was Sailor Moon, and I still have some of my sketchpads or really bad art from them. Thank god I think all my really bad fanfiction from it is dead or lost on the Internet.
6. Who is your favourite fandom artist?
This question is not fair, as I have many and often it depends on my mood. ;D One artist who I feel a particular attachment to is kaptainsnot because we both derive our style from similar inspirations, although we execute our pictures in different ways. Other than that, most of my friends list is full of very talented, unique individuals. Many of them have distinct styles and use a variety of mediums in fantastic ways.
7. Have you ever been inspired to draw fanart for a fanfiction work? Why?
Sort of. I do not want to necessarily tell a story or a scenario when I go into drawing and making art. Most times I feel the need to make a picture of Snape, or Harry, or [insert name here] and make them portray an emotion. Sometimes those emotions come out of a scenario. Sometimes those scenarios are inspired by fan fiction or a fan fic, but I don’t set out to illustrate such and such scene from such and such author.
8. What are your favourite mediums to work with?
For fan art, most of it is done in Photoshop. I sometimes draw my pictures out in ballpoint pen and scan it in. I also occasionally like to work with gouache.
9. Do you have a piece of art (fandom or original) you've done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
It’s hard to say if I’ve had a piece of art I’m most proud of. I like different aspect of most of my work, but all of it needs some improving. Perhaps one of the pieces I find most interesting after some period of time is a rare original illustration called main course located here (NWS, sexual nudity):

10. Are you excited about the Snarry Games?
Of course. ; )
Thank you, cnary_crem_dght!
