Your Name (and lj name if different): Eruwen (eruwen310780)
Your Games Team: Team Romance (teamromance_art)
1. What made you decide on Team Romance?
Truth be told? It was a pure gut decision at the time. By the time I was even aware that I’d be in, the announcement was upon us and I had to make a quick decision. That and the fact that I’d thought about, read about, drawn and watched an overabundance of angsty Snarry during the past couple of months and I was in need of a change – after all, romance can be bittersweet as well J.
2. Which HP character is your favourite to create in art?
Without looking at it twice, Snape. He’s intriguing, unattractive (although that’s a very loose term I admit)… simply the most interesting character to draw in HP, for me.
3. Has your experience in fandom changed the way you do art? How?
I have to suppress a bout of hysterical giggling here, because my experience in fandom has, indeed, very much changed the way I do art. Meaning, I found myself inevitably finding and/or locating an incentive to do art at all, the finding of said incentive leading to the acquisition and appropriation of a means to the production of aforementioned art. Savvy? (sorry, couldn’t resist. Temptation was too strong…)
4. Do you prefer drawing your own scenarios, or drawing scenes from canon?
My own scenarios, definitely. I have a weakness for shipping and since most of my ships aren’t canon, there’s something to be said about the artistic freedom to stray from the canonical path. (*rambles on about ships and freedom…)
5. What made you decide to draw fanart the first time? Which fandom was it?
Fascination. With the character of one Severus Snape, and the plethora of fanwork he had already inspired then.
6. Who is your favourite fandom artist?
I really couldn’t say. There are so many greatly talented artists out there, many of whom are right here at the games. There are as many different styles of art as there are artists (if not more) which are all fascinating to look at, ranging from (western) comic-y style to manga style to dramatic to photo-realistic… and many more. It’s impossible to pick a favourite.
7. Have you ever been inspired to draw fanart for a fanfiction work? Why?
Hmm, not yet. But I’ve only been in the business as it were for some months, so I suppose it’s a matter of waiting for the… opportune moment.
8. What are your favourite mediums to work with?
To be perfectly honest, anything to do with traditional media simply beats me. I love Photoshop and my Tablet (which fully deserves the capital T) and I suppose it’s got to do with the technical aspect of it. I’m a geek, and what’s more, I’m literally a professional geek, so it doesn’t really surprise me that I prefer to think of colours in terms of hue, saturation and density, rather than haphazardly (and I assure you, in my case it would be so) mixing chemicals together and hoping for the right result.
9. Do you have a piece of art (fandom or original) you've done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
Hmm, yes there is one, but it’s neither HP fandom nor original, so I apologise if linking to it here is inappropriate: This portrait of Davy Jones took me ages to colour and I was quite frustrated at many, many points during the making of. But in the end it turned out that perseverance pays off, so… yeah. He’s my pride.
Mod says: When I say 'fandom' I mean ANY/ALL. *g*
10. Are you excited about the Snarry Games?
I was This Close to calling my family about it! Mind, they haven’t got the faintest about slash, fandom in general, Snarry in particular and I’d very much like for that to stay that way. I like living, you see. So… noooo, not excited. At all. *winks*
Thank you, eruwen310780!
