INTERVIEW # 36
Original poster: snarrymod
Your Name: hasaidreamer
Your Team: Angst is the word!
1. What made you decide to agree to compete in these games?
Decide? The rest of you actually signed up for this?
2. Why did you choose the Angst Team?
Three reasons: It’s definitely where my literary strengths lie. You wouldn't have a plot (or at least, not much of one) without some angst. And Snarry is made for angst if anything ever was!
3. Have you always been interested in the Severus Snape/Harry Potter dynamic?
Ever since reading the end of Sorcerer's Stone and realizing that Harry had been reading Snape wrong all along.
4. What is more challenging to you – working WITH strict canon or working AROUND strict canon?
Working within cannon is always a challenge - but it's the challenge that gives life to our writing. I enjoy trying to find some way to make my stories fit with cannon creatively... I really see the two as one and the same.
5. What motivates you?
As a writer? The fact that writing is such good therapy. I always feel better when I'm writing, and it's helped me to work through my own issues and make sense of them. Fanfiction is especially good for self-analysis, because the characters already exist for me to channel my own passions and fears through - I don't have to think as I'm writing, just feel and do my best to express it. And I love reading, so it's inevitable that I'd want to add my own say.
6. Do you have plans for (or are you already writing) original fiction?
Yep. Proud to be a NaNoWriMo winner in 2005 :) (www.nanowrimo.org)
7. What three things are necessary for you to enjoy a story you are reading?
1. Writing style (grammar! punctuation! creative language!); 2. The author must have compassion and empathy for the characters. I love when I can see through the author's eyes and feel through their words just how much they LOVE the characters. This usually means the characters have a certain love and respect for each other as well; 3. Watching the characters grow as the story progresses.
8. What are your Top 5 favourite fanfiction stories?
The first fic I ever reviewed, after years of lurking, was amanuensis1's The Sea and the Shore (http://www.amanuensis1.com/theseaandth
9. Do you have a story (any fandom) you’ve done that you are most proud of? Would you link it here for us?
I've got no fanfic posted thus far. The Snarry Games will be my first to go public.
10. Are you excited about the Games?
Absa-frickin'-lutely! And I have to take the opportunity here to thank the phenomenal lady at the helm of Team Angst, rexluscus for coordinating and cheering us on!
Thank you, hasaidreamer!
