oh, wow.
wow, I knew this was going to be good, but I had *no idea*. We have so many stories dealing with their youth, the beginning of their relationship and now you've breathed life into the autumn of their years together.
They are just so breathtakingly beautiful and real, still themselves but weathered and comfortable. And all the time lurking in the background is Harry's fear that his severus is going to disappear despite all the enemies they defeated despite their bond, simply taken by time and old age. And that is something even the great Harry Potter cannot fight against and hope to win - it just happens. I love how you showed their colourful daily life and how a confused mind can play tricks on even those of the sharpest intelligence like Severus(I had no idea he was talking about a washing mashine, it made perfect sense!). It was also somewhat disturbing how realistically you portrayed the younger generation taking over. David was gentle,a loving son and old himself but even he just sort of forgot who they were in face of their age and wilful behaviour. They basically still felt young but the world just saw a pair of old fools. Scary really how the elderly tend to get either pushed aside or are simply steamrolled. That little speech Sev made about memories and sharing them really touched me. I'm so happy they had each other, I can't and won't imagine how horrible it must be to reach such an age alone and realise nobody really knows you.
Anyway, I'm sure others will say it better but this story is wonderful because of the details, warmth and the way it chills and warms and touches me so profoundly I have pieces of it imprinted on my memory for good. Thank you for this great contribution to Snarry.
