Mmmm. *sniffles* This was beautifully done, so sensitive to the rich but subtle tapestry of aging. There's changes as well as stability, humor as well as the sadness of loss, new babies and old friendships, not just the diminishing that is the only thing too many children see.
I love your putting Albus in this, and Draco. Your Draco is wonderful. I love the incident with the washing machine, the thing with the toads (!), Severus's road trip back to Hogwarts, the glimpses of a large and loving family, and the many meals of stew. *g*
As a middle-aged fan with many older friends, as well as helping take care of my own parent, I love how realistically you depicted the awareness of many elders of what they're going through, and how hard it is for youngers to remember that the goal is care for and *about* their elders, not simply convenience for the youngers. Yayy for son Christopher sensing the solution.
Most of all, I'm so gladdened and grateful that slash fandom has writers like you. Much of the world is so ignorantly prejudiced about slash. Fics like this show the enormous depth and social sensitivity of slash fandom at its best.
