I was just too darned slow to vote in the Games this year. There's always so much brilliant work which deserves proper appreciation instead of a rush-through for the sake of covering every day. So here I am, bearing no votes but filled to the brim with admiration and amazement.
Now unless I missed a recent wave of foggy-Potter fics, the concept is incredibly creative! I remember one of the Games featured a Snarry series of artwork based on 'When I'm Sixty-Four'. It was hilarious and cracktastic but never did I think that someone would take the idea further and with such a clever balance of reality and the magical world.
It's so original and such a interesting read, not simply because of the fresh ideas and dynamics but because they were so perfectly executed. You've mastered that knack for knowing how much detail is enough. Never overwhelming or unnecessarily verbose. Just lovely.
And also, I love how you wrote Severus and Harry. My hang-up about a lot of post-war fics is that when they get together, they tend to lose their edge, their highly-strung and very particular personalities to become The Lovey Dovey Couple Which Lived Happily Ever After. I mean, when that happens they could be just about anyone else really, they just mellow out too much to be convincing. But not here! Yes they've stepped down the paranoia, yes they're completely in love with each other but they're still Severus and Harry with all their quirks, for better or worse.
In fact, you wrote them so believably in-character that I keep forgetting that they aren't spring chickens anymore (You've captured the essence of them so nicely!)
So thank you so much for this wonderful fic. (And I apologise for the epic length of this comment. When I fan something, I tend to gush.)
