I did not get it until I saw the pomegranate, then the picture became very profound.

Lovely! It took me a moment to read it as Hades and Persephone; my first instinct was actually Thomas Rhymer and the Queen of Faery...

I'm not much of an art critic I'm afraid, it's more a case of "I know what I like" and I adore this! It is beautfiful, it has a very etheral feel to it.

This is beautiful, even more so now that I’ve learned that Severus isn’t a vampire offering Harry somebody’s heart and the red isn’t blood. *is clueless*

I think I prefer the “they fell in love” version of the myth, although Harry’s impassive face leaves a nagging feeling of doubt. No doubt about what Severus wants, however. *g* Such an enthralling, dangerous man with a penetrating gaze.

Their pale skin looks gorgeous against the sooty eyes and hair. Those tiny curls are very cute as are the flowers in Harry’s hair. Severus’ teeth and bone crown is a magnificent piece of jewellery.

beautiful! I had to take a second look to see that what I though was an apple is actually a pomegranate - I thought it was snape as the evil queen trying to make snow white eat the poisoned apple... anyway, I'm gonna read up on the Persephone story now.

At first I didn't get it, and loved it just for its absolute beauty. The colours enchanted me on the spot, so earthy and powerful yet somehow subtle, compelling. Then I read the story of Persephone and Hades and realised how right I actually was and what a genius you are to be able to create with just the tones the setting for this beautiful myth that somehow fits Harry and Severus perfectly. I imagine that is the reason you chose it ;)

Severus/Hades is all darkness and sharp angles. The ruler of the underworld, he is immersed in darkness, he understands the darker mature sides of human nature, he's seen it all. I love the sharp (blood) spattered crown (symbol of the pomegranate or vice versa) and his positively lethal looking nails, but what he is almost anointing Persephone/Harry's lips with is not blood. It's the juice of life, the passionate adult full dangerous loving sexy *red* life they could have together, *if* Harry gave up his innocence, if he exchanged simple child's joy, easy orderly sheltered existence and familial love for that something more. Persephone could have returned to her family, Harry could have got his old child's wish with Ginny and the Weaselys. But Severus is asking him to abandon the pastures where the flowers in his hair grew for the rocky underground where the sunshine cannot reach. In exchange he would bank a fire within Harry himself. The Greek goddess chose to eat so she could stay with her beloved and start her own life. In your picture though is Severus the one who tempts, albeit gently, and begs, no matter how quietly or confidently, he begs Harry to stay, to ease his loneliness, to enter his darkness embrace his own and make it soft.

Persephony and her family managed to come to a compromise and I'm sure Harry will throw one last glance towards the surface then turn around to step fully into Severus's embrace lick sin off Sev's finger and seal the deal with a kiss :)

I just cannot believe how you managed to capture this pivotal moment of Harry's pain when he gives up his perfect dreams, not because he's being forced but because he cannot deny his own being. And Severus knows it - he couldn't be more gentle. And yet a triumphant smile already lurks on his lips, knowing that his companion, his light, is ready to join him.

This beautiful little masterpiece certainly didn't leave me speechless ;) it took my breath away, touched me very deeply and I simply took it and made it mine. This is what Snarry is all about.

I love this! It looks like the Hades/Persephone story to me, what with Snape's crown as King of the Underworld and Harry's flowers as a Goddess of Spring. Fantastic! It really grabs me and sucks me right into that Historical/Mythical genre!

Mmm, I adore the shimmer of black and gold and red. How extremely sensual and decadent, with Snape looking so intently and so very possessively at Harry, who stubbornly refuses to look back. Snape's subtle, expectant smile, along with his painted eyes, are truly erotic, and I love the stray curls of hair against his face.

The smearing of pomegranate juice over Harry's closed lips is fantastic, as are the red stains on Snape's fingers and the creepiness of his black, pointed nails. You've also given Harry gorgeous, androgynous hair, and the flower garland practically glows against the black. I also love the stylized flames of Snape's crown, looking slightly juice-spattered, and the rock texture behind them, and the way Harry's got one shoulder hunched as if to fend off the glowing, dripping pomegranate (which is so brilliantly colored that it's hard not to stare). The expression in his eyes is especially wonderful, refusing to look at Severus, refusing to give in to temptation. There is so much UST in this pic. Its surface is decorative, but the implications are dark and lustful, and we all know the consequences of eating forbidden fruit. But considering how beautiful Snape is in this piece, who wouldn't want Harry to succumb?

Great use of colours - dark and warm at the same time. Fits the prompt wonderfully. Snape and Harry are both beautiful (omg their eyes!), even though Snape definitely is scary. He's looking so predatory and with those fingernails and that teint and even the rust/blood on his crown he is the epitome of an underwordly sovereign. Beautiful use of both prompt and genre.
