Oh, a lovely story! I adore the ones where Snape and Harry are just missing each other's meaning, or, as here, Snape's doing absolutely the wrong thing for Harry's benefit. I loved that you had a previous encounter that they both had to accept wasn't right. I loved the proper, loving encounter, and then the secrets start to unfold. I think you wrote Harry's hurt search for what he believed he deserved very well. I wasn't wholly convinced by the 'Harry's father' bit of the storyline, but your Snape - Harry interaction was so beautiful it didn't really matter. Gorgeous, and I, too, wish to hear Severus' take on a Gloucester fisherman's accent - I love Captains Courageous!
