"Severus?"

Harry's unexpected shout from the bathroom almost made him drop his book, and he just managed to catch it. He marked his place, set it aside, and went to see what Harry wanted.

"Why on earth," Harry started, looking over his shoulder at Severus, who had just entered the room, "was there a newt in the cupboards under the sink?"

"I should know why?" Severus asked in return, stepping over a mop as he moved closer to Harry.

"Because it's got the band you put on them when you intend to make them into potion ingredients," Harry replied flatly, holding out the newt for inspection.

"Ah," was all he could think to say. "So it does."

Harry snorted, handed Severus the newt, and returned to cleaning the bathroom.

In his lab, with newt enclosure in hand, Severus lifted the newt, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Someday, I will discover how you keep getting out of your enclosure, Albus."

The newt just licked its left eye in response.
