*grin* I just posted a link to this in my LJ with a bit more description on how I made it. I'll quote it here.
"...made of polymer clay, hematite, wire, and three antique keys, it's been put together, sculpted, and baked over the span of two weekends.
Before making this miniature, I never thought it was possible to carve letters in 4-6 pt font, or create elaborate effects just with silver wire frame outlines and black clay in between, or sculpt facial features by painting on bits of clay with a tip of a needle."
This was inspired by an odd combo: steampunk jewelry and a lot of miniature cartoonish style polymer clay pendants I've seen on deviant art.
Basically I wrapped three keys with wire to hold them together, then I filled in polymer clay for strength - baked, added sculpture on one side, baked again, added sculpture and detail on the other side, re-baked and hoped it won't break during firing, and then added polish over all the fine detail.
Do try out polymer clay! It's like magic. :) Multicolored, strong, seems to stick to any medium, bakes easily in the oven, and can be carved or polished afterwards.
