TEAM PHOENIX ENTRY: "A Real Boy" by Miyoung
Title: A Real Boy
Artist: Miyoung ([info]miyoung_boz)
Team: Phoenix
Email: miyoungboz at gmail
Genre(s): Alternate Reality *Hover/Click for Games Definition of Alternate Reality*, & Horror
Prompt(s): Rebirth
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG13; Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * *Slight gore, Body Modification (for sewing into skin)* *
Artist's Notes/Thank you's: I had originally wanted to do something else, but time was not on my side (even with the extension from the gracious mods). This is from my first brainstorming session. I'd thought it might be fun to do a macabre image based on Pinocchio. Snape, as the Gepetto character, is fashioning himself a toy out of odds and ends he's acquired.
Media used: Photoshop
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): Video is fine. Please contact me for anything else.

A Real Boy, by Miyoung

MOD NOTE: POLL IS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE SNARRY GAMES.

Wow! Creepy and disturbing in a fascinating way. I find it hard to look at, yet I can't look away!

Great idea, beautifully drawn. :-)

Wow. I like this a lot, actually. I think that I especially love the faraway look in Harry's eyes. It's like he really is a doll and is just waiting to come to life. Brilliant. :)

This was really interesting; being a seamstress, I find the details incredible (although I've NEVER sewn anything quite as lovely as Harry!)

Fantastic image - creepy as hell, but fantastic. I am totally enamored of this puppet-Harry, his empty eyes and piece-meal body. Also, I just love the tiny detail of Snape's torn and fraying shirt.

This is absolutely beautiful. Harry's odd angles and his eyes just make it. And I love that Snape is wearing Gryffindor colors :)

This is good. Very Good. Creepy and horrific, as well, but beautiful, well thought-out. The connotations are interesting. If a story could go with this, I wonder if it would be explained why Snape did this with Harry and not Lily... or if he had done the same with Lily...

I don't think I want to think on this further, but I must say, when I read the warnings of the skin modification, I was not going to look. I have serious issues with the topic since my mind automatically links to cannibalism, but this picture has no blood. Or other stains... and it's beautiful and so I do not cringe in horror and slam my eyes shut thinking happy thoughts, but I look and analyze and look slowly away, dissociating myself from the nightmare this must represent. And I am not experiencing prolonged negative thoughts, so thanks. Thanks for your portrayal.

So, okay, it's not actually very often that clicking on a link will startle an actual verbal exclamation from me, but you scored an instant "I love it!" with this one. It is GORGEOUS, and so beautifully creepy and creepily beautiful and unexpected. The details are to die for - the shredded brocade of Snape's vest, omg! I love how you've drawn the eye with sharp crisp details while still letting most of it stay soft - the effect is at once dreamlike and precise. I love that Harry looks like a doll, that blank gaze and the awkwardly dangling arm, but not quite a dead one; making eye-contact with the viewer? SO SO PERFECT.

Creepily beautiful!

I guess what I can't get out of my mind is what comes after Snapes boy has been stitched together and is finally complete?

What then?

*shudder*

This is divine!!

This amazing pic went straight into my personal keeper file! It's eerie, fey and darkly moving. I love the soft feel of it, all diffused light and blurred edges. The subject is both fairy tale and horror story, and the look on Harry's face almost scares me, especially set against the almost pleasant purposefulness of Snape's expression.

Outstanding piece of work, dear.

It just seems so hopeless, although I admit, like one of your other reviewers, I don't like dolls, so your Harry is doubly creepy to me. With Snape's threadbare satisfaction, I'll see this one in my sleep, I'm afraid. Very well done!

Stunningly beautiful. I love the bruises, Snape's tattered shirt, the blood on the thread. Most of all I love Harry's puppet expression and the madness in Snape's eyes. Brilliant!

Stunningly creepy and sublimely rendered. Loupgarou or Captain Tulip really needs to write the fabulous fic that should go along with this image.

Creepy! Harry's blank expression and limp pose perfectly for this - you've definitely got the horror nailed right!
