TEAM DRAGON ENTRY: "His Dream Wizard" by Veridian Dair
Title: His Dream Wizard
Artist: [info]veridian_dair
Team: Dragon
Email: summmer_days AT yahoo . com
Genre(s): Postwar, Angst
Prompt(s): Moment of Truth
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: PG. Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * past character death and potential use of tissues *
Artist's Notes/Thank you's: After heavily raiding my Kleenex box during this moment in [info]joanwilder's story "Occam's Razor" (I'm a angstaholic and am not ashamed of it) I knew I really wanted to try some day to portray this scene in an image. The Games gave me a great excuse to do just that! Huge thanks to [info]glockgal for being my biggest cheerleader on our team, my other Dragon teammates for their very useful suggestions, and the amazing [info]joanwilder for writing a story that touched me immensely and for letting me pick her brain so much on the details that I'm amazed I didn't give her a migraine.
Media used: Photoshop CS3; graphic tablet
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): yes, just let me know where.

Snape continued. "What would you look for in a partner, then?"

He held up a hand and spread his fingers. "Tall, dark and average-looking," he bent a finger down, "intelligent and can carry on a conversation," two more fingers folded in, "books, kinky in bed," the last two down to make a fist. Opening his other hand, he went on, "In the war, and likes the simple life." He stared at the remaining fingers, as if mesmerized. "All together, wrapped with a bow, my dream wizard."

His mouth fell open as he looked up slowly at Snape. "You…you…" he stammered as he moved forward on his knees so that he was just inches from the painting. He brought a hand up to place it against the frame. His eyes were bright with tears.

"You know what I wish? You know what I wish more than anything? I wish you weren't dead. More than anything," he almost whispered. "You're all those things. And you're...you're never coming back."

I've always been a sucker for angst (especially Raewhit's); you've captured the moment so well. I like the multiple panels and was very glad when you added them. Especially the hands. Veddy nice, my dear.

And yeah, Rae's really patient that way, isn't she?

I love all kinds of interaction between Harry and portrait!Snape and I love the progression from the cameos to the main picture - you really tricked me there as I was slowing unscrolling the image down my screen. Beautiful!

And I must read RaeWhit's story now - I've read others by her but not this one. Thanks for reccing it into the bargain!

It's an amazing picture, it reflects the scene, it's tension and atmosphere very-very accurate. I've translated the Occam's razor to Russian, and I suppose, it's a great present for all readers of this wonderful story.
Thanks!

'Occam's Razor' is one of my favourite stories, and you chose a very intense moment. Snape and Harry's longing, the intensity of their feelings, is palpable. Great job!

(It's only good I know the ending of the story. :D)

This blows me away! It's so full of emotion and it makes me all weepy! And I LOVE the texture you added for Snape's portrait!

I've been meaning to read this one, but it keeps getting pushed back. I'll definitely move it up on my list now.

Oh wonderful! I love their faces with the matching pinched, pained looks. Their hands touching-so sad. That was a brilliant story and you've more than done it justice. Great job.

Their expressions are just spot on and so bleak. I love the sense of motion you've managed to capture in Snape's portrait, and their hands just mesmerize me.
