Okay, I've started this comment four times and it keeps disintegrating into HOLY FUCKING GOD and I KISS YOUR TWISTED BRAIN and other raving outbursts. I am totally smitten. I'm in awe of the deadpan narrative, the minimalist palette with the striking bursts of red. The schizophrenic nature of Harry's secret life and Ginny's bewildered attempt to defeat a rival who's not even alive - oh, sexual pathology, how I love thee. Harry so normal and sweet-faced on one side of the door, so deranged and out-of-control on the other. And poor preggers Ginny turning to her mum for advice - this is so outside the realm of mere infidelity, it's like a morality fable of sexual obsession. Only without a happy ending.
The drawings are fantastic. There's a little-girl quality to Ginny that makes it seem impossible that she can ever comprehend, let alone counteract, Harry's addiction to dead Snape. And Harry doing his Lily impersonation looks drugged and debauched. Fantastic panel of him writhing on the floor, offering himself to the watching photo. The different angles and perspectives you use add an extra bit of cinematic pleasure to the design. And I adore the panel where Ginny says: "So I burned it. And Snape . . smiled." Genuine hair-raising Twilight Zone moment there. And the photo of him, with the steady, blinking eyes. So. Fucking. Perfect. Gah. *rips him from monitor* That, right there, is a portrait of the Snape in my head.
So that moment seriously contends with my other favorite panel, Harry exultant and naked and reveling in his madness, surrounded by an infinite number of glaring, smirking Snapes. Fabulous rendition of Harry's body and his joyous, crazy smile (although I wish the dialogue box wasn't blocking half his face!). All taking place in darkness. Yum.
Then the Easter egg! *shrieks* "Grr. I love you, Potter. Grr." I'm sorry, that is just too cute for words.
I can't even imagine the planning and perfectionism, the sheer level of skill that went into creating this. I'm totally gobsmacked. It's beautiful and twisted as fuck and blackly humorous and just brilliant. I'm only going to look at it about a thousand times before the Games are over. Thank you so much for this. Imagine wild applause and earsplitting whistles from the peanut gallery.
