TEAM PHOENIX ENTRY: "All shall love me" by Ships_Harry
Title: All shall love me
Artist: [info]ships_harry
Team: Phabulous Phoenix
Email: ships.harry at gmail . com
Genre(s): AU *Hover/Click for Games Definition of Alternate Universe*, Horror
Prompt(s): Power corrupts
Rating/Warnings/Kinks: R for nudity. Drag mouse over space if you wish to know: * Heavily implied Snarry slavery, imminent non-Snarry execution, and a dark-like-whoah!Harry.
Artist's Notes/Thank you's: Thank you to my wonderful team of awesome, without whom this would be a hot mess :). The colouring in this was rather inspired by a series of still life paintings by Chris Peters - the wine glass and cherries are in fact a nod to those, borrowed from his painting "Memories of Sin" :). The pomegranate, complicated, symbology-laden, sparkly-pretty-tasty fruit that it is, is all mine :). At the risk of stating the obvious, the title is from Galadriel's wee moment where she nearly gave in to the corrupting desire to "do good" with ultimate power, and the full quote is, of course, "All shall love me and despair".
Media used: Photoshop, Wacom tablet
Archiving/Usage permission, including the Tribute Video (only after the polls have closed and medals have been awarded): The video, sure. Anything else; please check with me.

Wow, I think the thing that struck me first about this is how incredibly complex all of this is, how it feels like every object and item and colour even has a specific, purposeful meaning. I am so infatuated by the pomegranate, the spotted fur, the cracked glass....ksfjdhskifhjsfhjshf. So absolutely complling!

Love your deep rich colouring too, the deep shadows and subtle lighting, the patterns and detailing...it's all so breathaking. I can't stop staring!

Agreed! It's very nuanced. Lovely colors. And I particularly like the pomegranate, as well. ;)

I really like this. The darkness and the corruption are visible in everything. I also love the little touches as with the promenade.

I love how Severus has his arms wrapped around Harry's thigh. It almost looks like a loving master/slave relationship until you look in the mirror, and see men tied to the pillars. Daaaaaaaamn!

My god, that is so .... *is speechless liek WOAH*

WOW. Just... wow.

Believe it or not the first thing that caught my eye was the pomegranate. The composition of this piece is so complex and well-done. The fruit and wine on the table look like a still life, and it imbues the whole piece with that same feel. Harry's expression... man, how did you get it so perfect? And the way Snape is clinging to him is so affective -- it makes me feel shivery and squishy and *wrong* all at once. The impending execution -- or painting of same, can't tell -- is really horrific and awful to contemplate, especially with it hanging there in suspense forever. (I'm kind of afraid to ask who's getting killed.)

Honestly, I'm so impressed with this. This pic is just the essence of lush, erotic dystopia.

Wow.

This is seriously creepy. There is a red-tinge in Harry's eye, so Voldemort apparently has won. The victims lashed to the pillars under the dragon's gaze...shiver! And Harry has bony toes. Is poor Severus wearing a cock ring?

Oh my. The look on Harry's face-in his eyes!-and the way he's carding his hands in Snape's hair. The way Snape is clinging to Harry. The details-the fruit, the cracked mirror, even the pattern in the couch and fabric. All fantastic. Amazing work.

Other than the glint in Harry's eye that still continues to give me shivers, I am lost in all the textural components. The fractured glass and the curved wood of the frame, the cushy furniture and that spotted throw...wow! The table contents (fruit and glass) just feel like I could literally pluck them off the screen. Your choice of color palette gives it all a depth and true evilness that might give me shivers the rest of the day.

But my favorite part is Harry's hand entwined in Snape's hair. Total awe.

Fantastically wonderful, SH!! the crack in the mirror makes it just perfect. Such a wicked, sexy Dark!Harry. I concur, that all the luscious details lend to the mood of decadence.

You rock, Firebird!

Crap! IJ lost my nice, detailed comment. *kicks it*

Okay, so to recap: food and wine and KNIFE = awesome.
The coloring is amazing and I'm always impressed with how well you convey mood with color.
I, too, am afraid to ask who is slated for snuffing. *wibbles*
Despite the non-fluffy nature of the pic the passion and intensity of feeling between Harry and Severus is clear.
Great job!

*crosses fingers and tries to post again*

Such lighting! When I first saw it I was awed by the sheer number of details that really make this piece complete. I really want to know what the story behind this is:)

Truly captivating!

mmmmmm... classical style. Wow, this is gorgeous. I love the smug look on Harry's face and how Snape is clinging to him.

And who are those unfortunate souls being fed to the basilisk?

This is delicious and rich and luscious and just wonderful. I love the deep contrast of the light and dark.

Very very nice... mmmm.

This is beautiful in a really rich and creepy way. The color palette is earthy and warm and keeps trying to lure me in, while the scene itself is just bloodcurdling. The little tableau with the wine and cherries and pomegranate, the gilt-tipped lion's paw and the bloody-looking knife, hearkens back to the golden age of still life paintings - but it's balanced by the horrific scene in the upper corner. The cracked glass is an inspired touch, and the fact that the victims are two men and a woman - i.e., some version of the Trio being sacrificed to the basilisk - is just chilling. That, and the combination of sexual violence with sadistic death. *shudders*

Harry's expression, and the languid way he dangles the chain, is awesome. I love his smirk, the ease with which he reclines on the piled furs, the clenching of his toes with self-satisfaction. Voldie/Harry's so fucking pleased with himself here. And there must be something wrong with me, because the way Snape rests his blind face against Harry's thigh and clings to him so submissively, either helpless and enthralled or just utterly defeated - GUH. And Harry's large hand, slightly out of proportion, the weight of it bearing Snape's head down and pressing it to his leg - it's so emotionally twisty and terrible. It makes my toes curl. Poor doomed Severus. His half-shadowy, blindfolded face is a thing of beauty, and so is his right hand, curled around Harry's thigh.

I'm totally drawn in by the softness of the fur, the smoothness of their bodies, your use of highlights, the implicit narrative, and the seduction of the color scheme - but in the end, it's the excruciating, awful eroticism of this moment that's irresistible. Highest marks, and much messed-up love for this.

This picture takes some serious consideration to understand the nuances underneath the dark and brooding mood - nicely done. I like to use my brain from time to time - especially when the result is worth it.

Details, baby. It's all in the details and you have them like whoa! The cracked glass and the pomegranate. And his feet... I squee over feet. Loudly.

Delicious!

Awesome! Makes my fantasy run wild. :D

I love the dragon (aren't you a phoenix ;D) and the convicts, the fur, Harry's red eyes and the cherries ... I could go on and on. Most of all I love the pomegranate. I can taste it.

OMG, this is luscious. Gah, rich colors are just dazzling.

It's so creepy and wonderful! The scene in the (broken!) mirror is deeply disturbing, contrasted with the stillness in Harry and Snape. And THE POMEGRANATE OMG. And the way it reflects in the knife. Wow.

The look on Harry's face is just amazing -- and that touch of red in his eyes makes it that much more horrifying.

Aaah, I could go on forever! The fur! The light glinting on the knife and the mirror! Snape's cock! The hint of a claw foot on the table! Snape's blindfold! The chain lead! The reference to Jabba the Hutt and Leia (which, admittedly, might be entirely in my brain, but it makes me grin anyway). And the dragonbasilisk, heeeee. :D
