I actually ended up reading this in two separate parts (a few weeks apart) thanks to total computer failure but I’d remembered, if not all the tiny nuances of the tale a good enough number that I could easily pick up where I’d left off.
I loved the fic and all it’s nuances, particularly the defined characters of the firedrake. I utterly loved that you remembered and used Harry’s Parseltongue abilities and put them to such an unusual but effective use. One of those moments of pure connection which comes between Harry and Severus long before they realise they truth of what is happening between them. I love how the rarity of the firedrake species in general leads to the fact that Severus and Harry are the only two who understand the intricacies of drake ownership.
There are so many moments I loved, it would be impossible to list them all, but I’m feeling particular affection for these right now: The whole scene of the first mating of Norbert and Chloe, and the frantic feelings and sex which overcame Harry and Severus at the same time. The pure blood-natured level on which the master and drake recognise and bond with one another, I’m assuming that’s what the bite was for. Harry meeting the masters after the trial after Severus realises it’s him who has cast the charm, yay for babbling! Rae as a character is brilliant, I wish we could have seen her and Severus interacting. Severus’ showdown with Malfoy, which I read twice because of where I stopped, and made me grin at Severus’ refusal to back down both times. Norbert eating Skeeter, ha! Take that you cow!
