Okay, first of all, I wish I had an uncle who called me the 'artichoke of his dreams'! That's the best nickname *ever*! :)
And after that, it just gets better. I really enjoy both 'Leenie' and Cynthia, especially the latter's unabashed enthusiasm and shameless matchmaking--with assistance from the adorable Teddy, of course. Even the dialect is well done (I was so shocked when Snape slipped into it, but then just impressed with how insightful that moment was--that under stress he *would* slip back into the speech of his youth). It made me just laugh to think of her gradually convincing him to adopt 'modern grooming and fashion sensibilities,' and the image of Snape in a salon is just priceless.
I think you've found an excellent new career for Snape as well--close enough to potions that I can see him both enjoying and excelling at it, but enough different to let him move on with his life. In fact (aside from the obvious squee factor of them getting together (and hotly!) in the end), my favorite part of this story is the way you characterize Snape--as a man with a dark past, which still troubles him, but also as a man who has *not* been completely ruined by the mistakes of his youth, who has meaningful work he enjoys and people around him he cares about, and who care about him. I always, always have a soft spot for the idea of Snape getting the chance to have a decent, satisfying, even happy life, after the utter shite of his previous experience. Yeah, I know in real life some people's lives are horrific from one end to the other, but that's not what I read fic for.
Harry is lovely as well. I was amused by the pleasure he took in not being recognizable, and pleased that he, like Snape, seems to have moved on to a reasonable adulthood. Damaged-almost-beyond-saving Harry has his appeal, but my favorite Harry's are the ones that manage to recover and get to enjoy the world he helped to save.
Altogether a charming story. I would *really* enjoy a sequel, if you are truly moved to write one.
