Yes- Snape's complexity, his crab-like nature, I think is a lot of what compels me to read/write about him.
I loved writing Twit - I even abandoned an alternative story idea because I couldn't get Twit into it. Not that I wanted to make you teary eyed, but it's really flattering to know his character is strong enough to have that effect.
I love a Harry who's had some time to grow up a little, who is demonstrably changed by his experiences, but who retains his essential sweetness and capacity for forgiveness.

they seem such a perfect, unobtrusive metaphor for both Harry and Snape.
I'm so glad you mentioned this, and enjoyed it! I'm never sure which metaphors come across and which don't until people say so.
Oh, and McGonagall, for whom I've always had a soft spot, particularly in her interactions with Snape, is just right.
