What a thoughtful review! I'm humbled that you'd take the time to be so specific, but you know how writers love when readers do this. :)
My major concern was making certain the reader was misdirected in the first half. Crafting their conversations to that end drove me a bit batty for a while. But I think it worked. I'm glad you could sense how much they cared for one another, Severus' resignation and Harry's determination.
The castle and Binns were the fun part for me: I've never much liked writing battle scenes, but that last scene in the Great Hall was exquisite to write.
