And! As to your point regarding hostility toward infidelity fic...I, too, am vastly curious. I mean, it's the PERFECT angst vehicle, am I right?? :D It's fascinating! Riveting! And something best experienced in a vicarious manner through completely fictional characters!! I do understand that the topic can hit quite close to home for some, and of course no one need ever justify why they don't like or don't want to read a particular kind of fic, but it's puzzled me for a while that incest, non-con, and chan (extreme chan--like age 11 chan!)--all of which, sadly, do happen in real life--get warnings but get fans, while infidelity in fic is left with only a few (but usually fervent) supporters. I have to say that I actually don't find comments in which readers indicate they don't like infidelity fics to be particularly hostile--I actually find those kind of comments make me smile, and in fact, I often couch my reactions the same way (as in, "I don't typically like plotty fics, but...") when the occasion arises. So--and shock of all shocks, I'm getting to the point--what do you think about the possibility of issuing some kind of infidelity fic challenge at some point? rurounihime actually suggested this once to me, a while back (do you know her? she writes mostly H/D I think, as far as HP fandom goes) and I never did get around to it...but I always kinda wanted to. :) She's actually written some almost-infidelity fic, which is just gorgeous...I can't resist giving you some links (to LJ):
