Thanks so much for reading! I also wondered about whether the ending would feel satisfying, and in the end I thought probably it wouldn't, in certain ways, because of the lack of confrontation. But, I also felt that in life, there isn't always a confrontation--we don't always have to face head-on the consequences of past acts that we might not repeat. Sometimes there just aren't any consequences. In my mind, Severus will continue to be devoted to Harry, and no longer sees any point to (or gains any pleasure from) being desired by anyone else.
