Very nice too, though I'm sad for Snape – but he needed to go. And before that, to live to experience acceptance, happiness, and to find generosity as well as duty in himself. This is really a rescuing-Harry fic – he needs to find himself, rather than his duty and his 'normal' expectations. Snape's given him that, and released him to find the courage to seek what he wants, which is still a duty, but so much more congenial, and to gain more of his children than that other life allowed him. Snape has also given him a lover; the height of generosity. It's good to know that though Harry needed rescuing, he'd done a lot of it himself, and attained maturity and a sense of justice on his own. Your Zabini, though a minor character in the fic, more off-stage than on (until we discover he's the silver raven), is an interesting reading, one that takes full account of canon.
Mei-Ping was a delightful addition (as was the restaurant over the way, and Zabini's animagus form). And, as always, you've presented another society most convincingly. I love the way you do that.
Given how the whole fic works from canon, I don't know that I'd call it AU (except for Snape's survival – that's enough to please!), but I'll have it. Thanks.
