Title: O-miai (An Arranged Marriage)
Artist: [info]chaosraven, with a pinch-hit for [info]scarah, who was unable to participate in this year's Games. Thank you, Chaosraven!

Artist's Notes: O-miai is the name for a Japanese marriage interview. Traditionally, it involves the prospective bride and groom, as well as their parents, in a very formal situation. I've obviously modified that to a scandalous private meeting. One of my favorite "romantic clichés" is for the partners in an arranged relationship to truly fall in love, and that's what I was trying to portray. It may be their first meeting, but "Eiri" and "Seijirou" have a special connection.

OH. Oh, GODS. Oh, this, THIS is what I want when I imagine AU--AR, I guess I should say, but THIS IS IT. It's AMAZING. The simplicity of the setting (fitting with the culture!), the difference in their clothing implying the difference within their culture (how freaking subtle is that?), the quiet looks they are giving each other. I have to say--I believe this is the most romantic of all the "romance" pictures that have been posted so far because it feels true to the essence of both Snape and Harry and what I imagine they would have as romance--a quiet satisfaction without flowers, schmoop, or even smiles. Wow. Just--wow. Yeah, I want to read the fic that would go with it. Hell, I wish I had the talent to write the fic that would go with it!

Hee! I'm loving Snape in socks and sandals! teehee! This is beautiful! I agree that it needs to be written! I didn't look at the meduim that you used, but it looks like watercolour. Very nice stuff!

Gorgeous. I love Snape in a suit, and the socks and sandals are a nice touch. Harry looks not quite demure but innocent. You can tell that there is a spark between them. Love it.

Ah, it's so delicious! The geta and tabi are very sexy, for whatever reason, with Seijirou's brown suit; is this a 1920-1930 time period?

And I *love* that Eiri has not *completely* let Seijirou in. Eiri is indoors, without geta--they're right there at the foot of the verandah where he left them. Seijirou is still outside, still has his shoes on, and the teacups are still waiting to be filled. Eiri's very formal posture is so well-done. Even the muted colors contribute to the period feel. You've really generated a lot of romantic tension using just a few very subtle cues.

Well, you can't get much more AU then this ^_^ Like it very much.

It looks right like an illustration to a Mishima Yukio-novel: the time period, the homoeroticsm, the traditions, the slight gloom and of course the country.

It also reminds me fiercely of some of my favourite Japanese Online-RPG-sites where the players can request/buy tons of chara/storyline/season/whatever pics from a number of associated illustrators: Engawa-scenes of every variety, including lots of shonen ai themed ones, crop up a lot there. This could really be one of those! Quality-wise too.

You have done an *amazing* job adapting Snape and especially Harry's canon facial features to suit this old-Japanese AU. Their clothes are beautiful, they look so smart!
