A/N: this plot bunny grabbed me while crossing the street today. I thought it was odd, then came home to see the prompts. Voila.

When the spell hit, Lily Potter dropped like a stone. Someone helped her up: Gran Snape, who'd died years ago. "Hello Sweets, I wasn't expecting you so soon, but I'm glad for the company." Lily realized what had happened. "James!" she shrieked. "Harry! Where's Harry?" James appeared, too befuddled to reply. Gran led her to the edge.

She saw through the mist: Harry, howling in his crib, unharmed but for a cut on his forehead. "He's just fine, dear. See? He' misses you, but he's OK."

A shadow fell across the boy, his wail ceased, his green eyes opened wide. Lily cried "No!" Gran gently took her arm.

As they watched, strong hands lifted the boy, gathering him close. Harry nestled against the black robes.

"Severus." Lily's heart was in her throat. "He'll be alright now, won't he?" Gran smiled and patted her.. "Yes, they will. And we can keep an eye on them, Dearie."
