“Don’t be afraid of this. I love you.” Harry pressed a tender kiss to Severus' temple.
“I know. But I don't know if I'm ready.” Harry felt Severus tense against him.
“Are you afraid of everyone’s reaction?”
“No! That doesn’t matter to me. I’m afraid of how much I want this. How much I want to be with you. What if it all goes wrong?”
“That won’t happen. You know I love you and I know you love me. You have to have faith. Just remember that I love you and we’ll make it work. Now come home with me.”

The house at Godric’s Hollow glistened in the afternoon sunshine. The newly rebuilt, freshly painted structure shined like a beacon in a storm.
Harry paused on the cobblestone walkway that led to the front door and mouthed the word, “home.”
A reassuring presence held him firmly against the onslaught of emotion that threatened to overwhelm him.
Gentle arms wrapped around his waist and a smooth, satiny voice whispered in his ear. “Nothing will ever destroy your home again. I promise.”
“No Severus. Nothing will ever destroy our home. I won’t ever let anything come between us. I love you.”
“And I you.”

One day he was alone. The next day he had a home -- a home with Harry at Godric‘s Hollow.
He struggled through life never knowing where he truly belonged, playing both sides of the fence. It was a harsh and lonely life at best.
Standing in the rain Severus found the answers to everything. Raindrops fell quietly as he looked upon his salvation.
There with his head thrown back to the sky, his arms wide open and a smile on his face, Harry stood, letting the rain wash away the horrors of the past.
Severus whispered. “This is where I belong.”

Severus raised his face to the sun. He was sitting in the little glade behind Godric‘s Hollow, having a picnic with his lover. After they’d eaten, Harry had fallen asleep beside him on the blanket. All he could hear was the rustling of the wind through the branches above and Harry’s soft breathing.
He was astonished to be alive and without the threat of imprisonment. Now he’d be able to spend more days like this with Harry, without the worry of having to live a double life, no more commitments, no more Voldemort!
