A/N: My first drabble here! Am excited and nervous. Thanks to rakina for pointing out a spelling mistake. :-)
Harry stared into the murky words of the lake, remembering a time when its surface was translucent.
At the sound of familiar footfalls, Harry’s shoulders tensed, but the low baritone demanded, “Relax, Potter. I am not here to bicker.”
Breath catching in his throat and pain clouding his eyesight, Harry remained facing forword, using the pretense of looking into the water to have to keep from turning around to look at his newly ex-lover, from breaking down under that cool glare.
Instead, he looked at the ugly, muddy water, which was once so pure.
“Just like we were,” he whispered.
