A life of handling potions ingredients had stained the creases of Snape’s palms. Between his brows and from nose to mouth, furrows were etched by anxiety and stress. The lines around his eyes were softer, they hinted at cynical amusement. Beneath the shields of his robes and the locks of his buttons, he carried the pale stripes of scars and the intricate design of an ignoble tattoo. But only Harry tongued the delicate folds on the inside of his elbow or trailed fingers along the delineation between hip and thigh, or treasured the austere lines of the Potions Master’s body.
