It had been months since Bellatrix had surfaced, and there was a betting pool going around that she'd either left Britain for good or somehow got herself killed. Hermione was staying strictly out of it; she knew Bellatrix would be back, and unlike her colleagues, she couldn't make a joke out of it.
"No one seems to know where she is or what she's doing. I've reinforced the wards at Ron's flat and at the Burrow, and come spring I've another idea to help protect Ron's family, but there's only so much I can do, or that they'll let me do. It's not as if Arthur and Molly are going to spend the rest of their lives waiting for disaster, you know."
She felt like pointing that if anyone was a target, she was, but knowing that Bellatrix hated her hadn't stopped her from going to work every day, watching Ron's games, and taking Leila out to romp in the park or at her grandparents' cottage. Harry was more than bright enough to figure that out for himself.
