"No, not really," Padma murmured, holding him for one more moment before letting go and leading him toward the couch. She took a deep breath, and reached up to touch her neck, deciding at the last minute to leave out the fact that she'd been walking up to Haven's Rest to meet him. She didn't want him to feel responsible. "Mcnair came to Hogsmeade. I... he... I had just taken a walk to get some fresh air - I didn't think he knew I was here, but he found me. He tried to stab me, and I apparated away and came back here."
Padma hesitated, and then forged ahead. "I think I'm going to owl the man who helped last time. We can't figure out how to get Macnair back through the Veil, but I'm pretty sure he works there, in the Department of Mysteries. Or at least in the Ministry somewhere. Hopefully he'll take over the hunt for Macnair. And since he already knows, maybe he can keep my involvement... out of it."
She didn't quite have the courage at the moment to tell Faelan the rest of her plans, so she fell quiet.
